Probably very similar to Timor Leste, or East Timor. I went there like Sep 09 or something like that. Probably the poorest place I've ever seen. 4 and 5 year old kids working at stands. no one has shoes. they did have a couple bars though and we all got fucked up. Thats the Navy though hah. Bought a hat from one of the kids for like 3 dollars.

yes I am in the slums and Mumbai or Bombay as they still call it here is a shit hole.
I'm leaving on monday.
India wasn't really on my top list to visit but it's such a big and such a diverse place I just couldn't skip it while I was in the neighborhood.

Today I wanted to visit the 'Gate of India and 'Elephant Island' but EVERYTHING is closed because Barack Obama is visiting Bombay, THANKS for fucking up my day Obama, what a dick!!!

Yesterday during the Dewali I found out he was staying here and me and this French guy where joking about bombing the shit out of his hotel (The Taj Mahal hotel, which was bombed a few years ago) and I hear a voice next to me "I wouldn't say that too loud if I where you"
Seriously, out of 16.4 million people living in Bombay there had to stand a American next to me when I was joking about that... so typical.
Also the "tourists" have doubled since a few day's, I believe there are a lot of "under cover secret service agents" here... but they don't dress like real back packers but as richer tourists who don't have any business here... who are they trying to fool!?

security is crazy in in this city today though

I stay in the slums pretty much and this hotel where Obama is staying isn't that far from here actually.

I spend some time with the rich and spend some time with the poor. I took some photos but am too lazy to upload them now.

@OCO I'll try to make it to Australia, but I have a big list of countries I want to visit before I come there.
Send me some pictures of your sister I might come early

I think all the beautiful dot heads jumped ship to Europe or America because they are rare here.

I musta been drunk as fuck when I posted in this thread, cause I don't even remember this lol...

Oh and several of my friends smoke here daily. You don't have to worry about shit.

You can get plates with lines of speed and shit like that in the clubs here.

I quit all that though. Take some hits if my friends are blazin, but that's it. Only alcohol...

I haven't heard many good things about India, but I mostly heard shit from people going there for business. And my Indian homie here in China is also not really that fond of India...

No matter where you go on this earth, everyone is gonna have their own experience. I have read where it has been known that people have flew into New Dehli, got off the plane and could not hack it and booked the next flight out while others overstay there visas and try to live there.
Remember India is a fairly large and diverse country whetherr its the food, people, language, poverty...its dependent on the state and city. Sure there is the slums particularly in the big cities but I heard once you get out of the tourists traps is where ya get the so called real India.

Vomiting and diarrhea GREAT COMBINATION!

With a shared toilet and shower makes it even greater!

I think I got it from some water somehow...
But when I got this sick I couldn't even think about food... let alone Indian food.. that shit is even more disgusting now then it was before.
Don't think if you've been to an Indian restaurant you've had Indian food. These people put spice and massala in EVERYTHING, that is so much fun when you have the shits!

I already ordered a beef burger here(lol) I needed the protein. I wondered what the guy who made it must think though... probably $$$$

I was walking through the city one day and a lot of people where waiting on Obama to take his picture.
I thought fuck this guy. He messed up a few days for me here and he fucked up every ones Dewali.
So I just continued walking and took these pictures instead which I find much more interesting then Obama.

(all of them are resized on the camera itself and not edited yet)

Finally managed to get to the Gate of India which was now open again when Obama left.
I went there around 6 am to catch the sunrise.
I had to walk maybe half an hour to get there, and in that half an hour I've seen hundreds of people sleeping on the street.
I nearly tripped over some because some parts of the streets were to dark.
I wanted to make some pictures which I'm sure they would have turned out interesting.. but I couldn't get myself to do it...
I might still go for it though.. It's something that needs to be seen by some people who complain to much when their fries of mcdonalds are a little bit too cold.

I read some papers here (in English) and they where full of praise of Obama and were so positive about him.

Everyone I've spoken on the street. Rich or poor didn't like him in India one bit.
For a lot of people he fucked up Dewali because they had to close up shop because a lot of streets were blocked.
He supposedly talked to so many people and students but only the sons and daughters of gazillionaires.

This is the Taj Mahal hotel

And here some dudes chillin'

I for long tried to get a train ticket out of this shit hole (although Mumbai seems to be a picknick compared to Delhi from what I've heard).

It happened twice that the dude behind the counter just closed up when there was still a really big queue pf people wanting to buy tickets. They just don't give a fuck. lunch time = lunch time and there is noone to take hit place. And 8pm means the end of the day. They don't finish up the line first.
No, they just close the booth.
Funny now I think back about it though although then I was pretty pissed.
I managed to get a ticket to some village (don't ask me the name) to the north of India and will take a buss from there to Nepal (looking forward to that!!)
Except the train ride will be 28 hours ... a sleeping train and since I am pretty tall 1.92m and the average Indian is half my size, I think it will be a quite uncomfortable ride.
But that is a problem for thursday!
