I would go with Marquez but he hasnt looked that good lately after his awesome comeback against Paquiao...Barrera looks good at times then looks bad at times as well depends on which Barrera shows up to the fight..its a TOSS UP..

I really like both of these guys individual styles...Marquez has a really fluid style and is slick as hell. Barerra is a master counter puncher...both guys have excellent defense.

This ones hard to call, but I think that with these two guys' styles, the busier fighter is going to come away with the win.

Either one of them beating the other doesn't give either man a better chance at beating Pacquiao. But it does bring them one step closer to getting a rematch with him.

I have more respect for Barrera because he actually wants the rematch, whereas Marquez has been kind of sidestepping one. Bad style matchups for both of them though. Advantage Pac.

Love both fighters, but I'm banking on Marquez. I just feel that he'll pull it out. I hate picking against Barerra, because he's proven people wrong time after time, but I just feel Marquez has what it takes. Whether he does it or not...we'll see. And I think in a rematch, Marquez WOULD beat Pacquio, while Barerra would probably end up with another L.

Great fight, though...

^^I'm glad he won, now hopefully we can see Marquez-Pacquiao 2. Did you catch his brother's fight with Israel Vazquez two weeks ago? That could've been fight of the year if Rafael didn't fuck Vazquez's nose up.

That would be the shit right there. You know they would have to PPV it though, having two top 10 p4p brothers on the same card, but it'd be worth it. I think they're with two different promoters though, but when money's involved, shit tends to work out.

Its about damn time Marquez got some well deserved shine ! Him and his brother both...

JMM has always lived in the shadows of Barrera and Morales...but I always felt like he was the most dangerous.

I believe there is a Marquez Barrera rematch...

Anyone see the D-Hop - Forbes fight ?! Stevie got straight robbed ! D-Hop is tough and has a style similar to his uncle's...but I feel like Stevie had that fight won by 3 rounds IMHO.

It's good to see more knowledgable fans here than in other boards.
Sorry Backwood but how long have you been watching prize fighting?
The only person robbed on Saturday night was Steve Forbes.

FINALLY Marquez got a well deserved decision.
I had it the same as two of the judges, as well as ESPN.com 116-111 for Marquez. It's amazing to me just how biased HBO's commentators are towards their favorite fighters. They are supposed to call it down the middle but they were cheerleading Barrera just like they've been cheering for Jermain Taylor. Sure Jay sorry ass ref Nady missed the knock down but it didn't matter in the end. It's funny how Jim Lampley kept trying to shove the knockdown in the throats of the viewers but didn't say much about Barrera's cheap shot. This was later evident on Larry Merchant's behalf when intervewing Marquez. It looked like he was trying a little too hard to get Marquez to confess about the knock down.

Say what you want but Marquez had Barrera back pedalling the whole night, he consistantly beat him to the punch and hurt Barrera in multiple occasions.
Marquez landed the cleaner shots and landed in combinations.
Barrera tried to out box the better boxer and would try to steal rounds with flurries. Ultimately it was Barrera's back pedalling that cost him the fight because it automatically made Marquez the aggressor.

I don't know how some of you kittens think Pacquiao can easily beat Marquez when he couldn't even finish him off in the first round of their fight.
Marquez went on to dominate Pacquiao for 11 rounds, now Pacquiao's supposed to come in and wipe the floor with him in a rematch?
Dream on.... Every man has his nemesis and Marquez has Pacquiao's number!

If you disagree, I have $1000 on Marquez....

ive been watching it for years and yes steve forbes was robbed also. to me it was obvious that barrera won the fight. he was landing the better shots all night. i think that the fight was close but barrera had 7 rounds to five. everybody that i was watching the fights with as well as the announcers on hbo felt the same way. i think lederman's card was pretty accurate. for the scores to be so lopsided it absurd.
