theres nothing wrong with ghostwriting....its just a form of art that is expressed thru the artists. just like movies, sometimes u just have to be creative with the lyrics and think outside of your "lifestyle" and just go entertain your fans...

I also think it's a good way for an artist to stay in the game. Say jay-z aint sellin anymore for whatever reason but he can still come up with concepts and shit and he got with the next hot young dude the rookie would be stupid not to have a sit down and talk it out. Cat's need to open up to change or different ways or get left behind.

most r&b acts don't write so what's the difference. the rapper still gettin his shine on the writer is getting his work in....sounds like a win,win to me. I would love to write for somebody in the future because I think if you keep your mind goin the pen will follow.

Defy, heres my grown folks assessment.

As much as people on here hate on Country, Rock and Roll, etc...back in the day and even still somewhat now country and rock artists can play...like for real. They got mad musical and songwriting talent.

Country songs have been more than a few pop and R&B hits.

The difference between now and then is that back in the day you had to have SERIOUS musical talent to make it in the business. A few exceptions exist (Cobain, Bob Dylan, all Disco), but back then musical talent and ability was a given. It wasnt a question. It was just something you HAD to have before you even got successful.

Nowadays people got pro tools and sampled beats...shit in some cases musicality is seen as negative. This contributes heavily to the much bullshit, no talent rap scene of today.

ok, so if I were to create all my beats originally, using just a drum machine, guitar, bass, & a triton keyboard, and came up with some brilliant writtens with nice ass punchlines, clean patterns, good wordplay and catchy hooks. but when I bust I don't like how my voice sounds.....but my boy who has a deep voice could recite that shit perfcetly, would that not be some musical shit or what? I mean, you may not hold the rapper in that high regard as a tupac or something, but if the shit comes out clean what does it matter?

is it going to make a difference when you find out the rapper you like doesn't write all his material by himself?

prince is an unbelievably talented musician. he doesn't just make his own beats, he plays all the instruments on his albums, creats the arrangements, everything....so to choose an artist like prince and say more people need to be like him is a high ass pedastool

You know your voice is also your best instrument so if i wrote a song and did not like how it sounds but my homie got on it and it came out perfect then that's his song. Because the whole point to music is to make it sound the best way possible...

i think as long as they're honest about it, i mean i know eazy e didnt write his own songs, but i still listen to him. some people can rap, but cant write, some people can write but cant rap

but when they can do both, it obviously makes them more talented
