So what are some of your favorite female lead bands and/or female singers? More or less any genre other than R&B, I want to hear some new stuff.

Maura Davis of Denali, Ambulette, and glös.
She has such an amazing voice and all three of her bands were/are really good.

Blonde Redhead
Tegan and Sara
Bardo Pond
Metric
Ladytron

I just heard that both Tegan & Sara are dykes, so that makes me like 'em a little more.

Regina Spektor
Jenny Lewis & The Watson Twins/ Rilo Kiley

The new Straylight Run is like 90% Michelle Nolan
Belle & Sebastian/ Isobel Campbell

I don't like Lily Allen or Amy Winehouse, but everyone else is going nuts about them

I've always liked Morcheeba; specifically the "Who Can You Trust?" album, but that's far from new. It's some laid back shit, though.

I'd listen to that cd first before moving on to their other stuff, especially their most current release "The Antidote," which has a new lead vocalist (also female, but not as good).

i never cared for No Doubt, but that flat chested snow rabbit Gwen Stefani sounds infinitely better when she's with her band

i remember seeing an awards show a few months back.... i can't remember if it was Gwen Stefani or not, but whoever it was performed a song with yodelling in the hook.... it was the worst fuckin song i've ever heard in my life... and that says a whole lot
