respect to you bro, but that wasn't my point of view of the album, I was tryna translate what phil said earlier in the thread. He said the album woulda been a 5.5 but since there's another album coming he gave it a 7 or 7.5/10...lol@your synonym though, very funny and that's exactly what I meant..and that's exactly how I would translate what phil said....I think we need him to clarify what he meant....phil?

i agree, and that should probably go for any album by any artist. Usually what happens though is people rate albums by comparing them to the particular artists best work. For example if you take an artist like Young Jeezy (off the top of my head); his best work (imo) was TM101 (and I think it's his best complete album, most would agree). When he released TM102 and The Recession 90% of the talk on the internet was "It aint nowhere near as good as TM101".....and other comments like that....get what i mean?

When I first heard all of the songs I was so excited because it was new material that Eminem has been working on and I was expecting some real good, meaningful lyrical content and all that. Then after having the songs for about 2 weeks I started thinking... He's been away for 4 years without a solo album and the first song he releases is "We Made You"? I felt it wasn't the proper song or way to re-enter the scene. After listening to the whole album all the way through at least 3 times start to finish, I've came to some conclusions.

I never compare Eminem to his old work just because I feel if you constantly compare old work to his new work, you'll be dissapointed. If you like his old albums better, then listen to them and don't complain about his new shit.

Anyways, I just can't really figure out this album...

The titles of the songs are one thing, but then when you hear the content inside of them it's almost a complete "what the fuck" sort of listening experience.

Cut your fucking head off and ask you where your headed off to,
Get it headed off to (haha)
Medic this head looks awful
this anisthetic is pathetic so is this diabetic waffle
And this prosthetic arm keeps crushing my hard taco

That's from Underground.

I keep thinking to myself what the fuck is he talking about?
I like Eminem and use to love his music so much. He was my favorite rapper and then I discovered Tech N9ne and now I can't listen to anybody without comparing them to Tech and how they don't match up.

The album has some standout songs on it and I still bought it.

I just feel like for how long he has been MIA, it's a weird feeling to listen to this album.
I'm not all giddy about hearing new Em tracks to the point where I think it's dope even if it's not.

My bad for rambling on and I know his older albums were full of a bunch of random content too, but this album is full of "pills this and pills that" and I don't know where I, as a fan, really stand on it

makaveli_420, you're a good dude, but - NO. lol.

That's like saying "My mom finally made some mash potatoes today. She hasn't cooked mash potatoes in years. She used to be really good at making mash potatoes, but the mash potatoes she made today taste like paper. However, she promised she'd make mash potatoes again next week. So I guess the mash potatoes she made today don't taste that bad after-all, since, I'm anticipating her making more mash potatoes next week."

In my opinion, criticism of this album should be based solely on this album alone, and not due to consideration or reference to any of his past or future material.
you my friend are brilliant ('m being serious by the way)... props nd all that good shit

My bad, Mak. I didn't mean to aim my comment at you. I know you were only trying to help us understand the logic behind Phil's comment.

PS: I'm still bumping the shit out of the album!

All I gotta say is

MF Doom would shred the draws off Eminem with two lines

Lyrically, thematically, it aint shit Eminem is doin new

"Beef Rapp" the song is better than Eminem's entire album

I take pills, Im depressed, I'll exploit my family to sell a CD

I never get ceased to amaze at the fact that Eminem gets so much clout still from the whiteboy pinocchio factor

Just like at the end of Pinocchio when Japetto is like "It's a real boy!" half the Eminem fans with googly eyes are like "Its a white boy like me! So incredible!"

Eminem is like the Linkin Park of the hip hop world, all the rejected caucasians who feel left out of the scene sit back in their room bumping Eminem talkin about its the illest shit they ever heard in they lives

Honestly Em had it early on in his career. But calling this album a 10 is off.

bought the album after i got off work yesterday. Well worth the $10 buckz. Definently not his best album. I will agree with that. But itz not even like his old albums at all. Definently bustin alot harder lyrically to me.

the child molest incest rape song did check me off guard tho.

but other than that EM was beastin on the mic. Medicine Ball is definently my favorite track so far.

Your retarded if you think Eminem is just some whiteboy thing thast they grasp on to, he wouldn't be as big as he is if that was the case. Anyone who says he has fallen off with his lyrics obviously hasn't even listened to the album... It's just a different subject matter than his earlier work.

Exactly!

An album with no mention of:
-cars, chains, money
-drug dealing, being a thug, etc.
-being from the "hardest" city
-being a pimp, having the most bitches
-corny club/dance songs

Not to mention, no auto tune (with the exception of a few comical uses).

An album with an actual theme behind it (written in a perspective of a demented, pill addicted-serial killer).

The album truly does feel like a horror movie of a sort. I think its genius. Em *is* back, but also he's not just back as the "same-old" Em (the accents, the delivery, the very dark/graphic content).
