the reason why to me, building out your image and making music to appeal to a wider fan base isn't an integrity issue, because music isn't the most important thing in the world. integrity comes into play when there's a possibility of malevolence, a dr. doing something unethical, for instance. or a politician taking a bribe.

a rapper making music so that more people will like his output and image isn't an integrity issue because music isn't important. the CEO of kraft foods isn't eating mac and cheese every night lol, that boy eating foie gras with grass fed organic vegetables. does that inherently make him unethical because he produces a product he himself doesn't consume? entertainment is a lowest denominator in art. the art is entertaining people, and occasionally it has glimmers of beauty. rap is an entertainment artform, so why talk out on someone that does it well?

all this hip hop is dead shit comes from taking rap too seriously.
he says this as hes rocking his neon green uggs and skinny zebra pants.

How does a 2pac and biggie remix have anything to do with the motto? Please explain that to me.
Drake didn't have to shoot the video in the bay, invite fellow bay area rappers, etc. He did it out of love and respect. Stop making it bigger than what it is. If you in this rap game, u would hope to be on the level he is at, regardless if u feel his music or not.
i feel artists that exploit artists deaths for personal gain is an integrity issue. biggie and pac are just a couple of examples. if people want to pay their respect they can do it in private. the funny thing is this video came out as somebody else who has nothing to do with mac dre or the bay is making a tribute video/song to mac dre and acting like hes from the bay. both of them on some fake ass bullshit. i dont make my opinion based on peoples success or lack of.

U r focusing too much on the negative. Did u ever think that drake doing this would benefit mac dre's music catalog? All his fans are gonna wanna know who md is. And drake ain't benefitting from that at all. In order to exploit someone in my opinion u must have something to gain based on what you are talking about.

i said that while i wasn't trying to defend rap music like its a bitch who's man just hit her. lol. trickin on hip hop cause you jealous everyone getting up in her and you think she's beautiful.

i said that while i wasn't making rap songs that nobody wants to listen to about money i don't have. lol.

you believe in hip-hop like a little kid believes in wwf. that's why you'll always have the music game fucked up while other people are winning.

Rap is a culture and apart of a culture...You can't downplay culture people get shot and killed beat everyday for downplaying or shitting on others culture beliefs (I.E. In this instance for a Rap purist, Hip Hop). Rap is also now a business, Some can successfully bridge the two, most can't find out where your strong suits are and be able to deal with the out come.

i know we were talking about artistic integrity earlier, and i mentioned how i think integrity isn't something that is often either defined or diminished in a big way by an artists output, at least in the sphere of rap music. there's one artist that i can think of that exemplifies artistic integrity and taking a stand for what you believe in, in a real way. and it's vital from the crest.

he went from making some really good rap shit like "they gon hate me" and he did some stuff w/mac dre, like, funny enough he did the romped out norteno remix. haha, but he always gassed shit. anyways, he gradually stepped away from stuff like that to now make shit like this and i think it is a perfect example of true artistic integrity, and funny enough it led to him not even rapping at all.

imho it took courage to choose to pursue this path.

THIS!!!!!!!!!!! Is the kind of shit that makes the Bay take 4 leaps back! This is pointless & meaningless, I repeat meaningless.

First! It has nothing to do with you. Nobody's heard of you on that level so your wasting your breath. Second, big named artist don't give a shit about broke underground unknown rapper (s) trying to diss. What do you really expect from this? Respect? Get the Bay behind you? Get the attention of the artist your dissing? Your not part of the solution, your a big part of the problem. This is the second dis track I seen up in these threads & to be blunt, it's a joke to see this. So bad that I won't click on them.

If Drake or Cash Money / Young Money offered to sign you today you'd sign in two shakes of a lamb's tail. Yes, I know, I know your too real & would never sell out. Yeah yeah yeah... we've all heard it before. Yet, if that wasn't true, you wouldn't be the one striving for attention off them artist going out to the Bay.

Get over it, it happened, past tense. This cry for attention is as bad as any idiot screaming George Bush was a lousy President. What good does it do? He served his 8 years & there is nothing you and your little protesters can do to change that.

Keep it moving & please stop this ignorance. It's a bad look for the Bay.

Agreed.
