Well then my question is: is "pop" a negative connotation?
depends on your circle one is a national and the other is regional, everyone lies but i think one is more genuine to real life experience than the other, at least for me growing up when I thought of rappers it was either people who were doin mobb music or that type or on the really lyrical tip, Drake is like this dancing acting singing child prodigy thing so I dont consider him a rapper to me he is a pop performer, everything is so corny on the mainstream and trickles down more and more to younger people because they try to emulate what they see and it blurs the lines on what music really is today.

You can disagree with me but Drake's freestyles where he just freezes up or has to use a blackberry and him talking about catching a body in his last big joint its just lame fake weak whatever, I dont like fabby davis that much but as an example he can freestyle for like 30 minutes straight cuz thats his passion thats what he wants to do and does and thats how it should be

Some folks jus hate cuz they hop on the hate on the mainstream artist bandwagon
Not even true. I dont like Drakes music because he aint my cup of tea. I tried to like his music but it just didnt happen. Im a huge fan of Eminem, Nas, Big Boi, Busta Rhymes, Yelawolf, Luda, Jay-Z & Kanye West's older shit, Andre 3 Stacks, J Cole, Common and Lupe Fiasco just to name a few. All mainstream artists.

Everybodys ear is different. Drake is on top of the game because he's with Young Money.

I bet some of you listen to Jodeci and H-Town on a regular basis, yet criticize a rapper who occasionally approaches his music in a similar direction. I'm lost.

Drake is on top of the game because he's with Young Money.
Only 3 people out of their growing roster have sustained success, so I'm not quite sold on that yet.

Drake is the reason why Young Money is even a factor, if you wanna call them that. aint no one besides him and Wayne brought that group name initial fame. Nicki Minaj came up off Young Money. and the only other cat that they been half ass pushin is Lil Twist. they been pushin his singles for over a year and still aint dropped his album. so there is no way Young Money is the reason why Drake is on top of his game.

Thats a fuckin bad comparison. Jodeci and H-Town are known as R&B singers that sang about fucking bitches. I grew up on Jodeci and got pussy thanks to them so dont even try it.

Drake is known as a RAPPER that also trys to sing. Not about fucking bitches, but CHASING BITCHES. For example, "Marvins Rooms" this dude is drunk and thinking about a bitch thats with another nigga. Drunk dialing and shit.

Yea I heard that song because like I said, I tried giving dude a chance but wasnt feelin his music so the "If you dont like Drake, why did you listen to his song" bullshit is out the window.

Comparing Drake to Jodeci is like comparing Jay-Z and Usher.

Raise up cutty.

lol @ ppl posting shit like, "i havent heard of his music, but i already know i wont like it." i swear this reminds me when i tried to put cats on the jacka jack artist album and they told me it was wack but they became fans right when everyone else was. imho, the music game is not even based on the music anymore, its based on popularity. i bet alot of these ppl who hates drake, if their idol liked drake, they would to.
