They were number one because teams started with great field position all the time (which already decreases yardage given up thru the air because there's less yards to gain in order to score), and they were able to control the clock with the run because they always had a lead and the raiders couldn't stop the run for shit.

well listen/read most Radiers fans and they say they wre a top defense.....How I ask?

Of course no team is #1 in both..but look at what most peoplesay some top teams in defense are

Raiders D averaged 4 yards/run and if you look at the stats last year, they did better than a little more than half of the league. They weren't terrible at stopping the run.

Tony knows what's up about what? thascary 1 had good points no doubt. But it is what it is. The Raiders ranked 3rd overall in "total" yardage... considering the fact that the defense was on the field for most of the game. Some other cats brought up the point about "points" not necessarily yards. I see that side as well... Point-wise we weren't too good but yard-wise we were at the top.
