i honestly have never listened to more than a few seconds literally of their music. just not my thing anymore. but in order for anyone in the bay to compete on a national level, they need to start by getting their paper/budget game together. pressing 5,000 cds(i know i am being real generous with that number) just does not cut it. it takes money to make money.

imo, i think livewire is better than most if not all mainstream shit. but the majority of people(the people who buy into mainstream music) don't wanna listen to raw street shit, they wanna listen to cupcake songs wit autotune and want all their artist to look and sound the same.

^^i feel u. but dudes from the bay don't even get much radio time IN the bay. how's the bay gonna blow if it's not united like that. look at NY, their radio stations play their rappers. but in the bay and nor cal in general the radio stations don't give love and support their own artist

someone just has their business right. that is what the bay area lacks. from my encounters, most artist managers look like the artists, act like the artists, etc. i mean if i am representing some REAL business, and my game is vastly improved these days, you better believe a suit and tie is the only way. artists promoting themselves on the internet, etc. says all i need to know. you suppose to have people doing that. aquiring that FREE help is really nothing, but most dont know how to treat normal people so you get what you see. a region not lacking in talent, but lacking business sense. not all lack it though.

LOL that statement makes me laugh. Bay Area rappers get criticized when they try and branch out from the Bay and make different types of music that appeals to a wider audience....then they get criticized by the same ppl for being content with staying in the Bay. Shit I guess rappers in the bay can't do anything right.
WHO CRITIZES WHEN THEY GET OUT? MAYBE ON THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE ON SICCNESS BUT NOT ME, I PERSONALLY WOULD LUV 2 SEE MORE FOLKS ON MTVJAMS & ON THE RADIO

I understand that, I'm just tryna figure out why so many so called "fans" of Bay Area rap keep bouncing back n forth on what they want from who they're listening to. One minute it's "*insert bay rapper* isn't doing enough to make it big" the next minute it's "*insert bay rapper* is selling out just to make it big."
.
Well for me I have been a bay area rap fan. I will always support Hiero, Zion I, Locksmith, Blackalicious, too short. In all honesty the reason why I am on the siccness so I can hear who yall listen to in the bay. For example, I was at a show last night my DJ was booked for, some guys from a camp called livewire was there ( i think his name starts with shady or something like that, i dunno he was at the door trying to get in, then i believe he got in along with the bayliens? ). Personally with me I have never heard of them or what they about or where there from, but lucky enough i was there to get a chance to hear them. I think the bay need to reach more outlets. If it is mob music, don't just stick to mob music outlets. Last nights show, the main emcee was Tash from the Alcolholiks so the scene wasn't too familiar with the new bay mob music(livewire). I think a lot of these artist need to use all outlets including ones out of there norm so they can build that universal appeal.

Also everyone criticizes everyone that is just music in general. Live with it and do you

Fuck Fame. Fuck being a star. Bucks over fame! There are a lot of Famous Broke people. A lot. And what artists on a National are really eating besides just a handfull? Especially if they are signed to a major. Major label deals for the most part equate to albums that never come out and no artistic freedom. Thats why music is in the state its in. Rap honestly is not the path to great wealth! You avererage UPS driver is seing $60,000 - $80,000 a year. MOST rappers wont make that over ther course of one year? Especially in the BAY! Food for thought!

Livewire is creating there own lane, and they have the bay area on lock right now(hate comes with the territory). They came from the ground up, and are building a solid fan base. Nobody gave them shit. You have to respect that.

this made no sense, any artist on a real major that got a full budget is eating more than an indie bay rapper selling 5-10 thousand. and if your aspiration is to sacrifice and be an artist then damn what a ups driver make.

First what major label is giving large budgets to make albums at the moment? The budgets they give coincide with what how much they think they can make off the album. Guess what most albums dont sell much. Even on a national level. And that money is merely a cash advance or Loan if you will that has to be paid back. That is assuming the major actually drops the artists album. And in the event they do they will determine what songs go on the album, how the songs should sound, and so forth. Thats why most commercial music sucks. I am also willing to bet an independent artist that sells 10,000 copies is probably making more than a major artist selling 100,000 if you do the math. Artist on majors get penny's on the dollar for their album sales, and have no say in decision making that directly affects them. And in regards to aspirations and sacrifice. Yes there a lot of aspiring rappers sacrificing providing for their children to chase a dream that will not provide for their children? Hmmmmm........

if people like Rick Ross can make it on a national level but talkin bout hustlin, then why cant a bay rapper?

besides the fact that most areas dont like us haha
because of the beat selection. Rick Ross has big sounding beats if you know what i mean. Same goes for most artists in the major leagues. I think its less about making"commercial" sounding stuff, its tweaking your sound sonically to appeal to the masses if that makes sense. Clipse talk dope talk, Jeezy, etc, but it sounds sonically doper than what bay independents do. It needs to be cleaned up and polished if that makes any sense too, like the whole presentation gotta be onpoint. more than just dope graffix on your cover, the music itself, be it mob shit or whatever, needs to sound more polished
