There's help out there, what's so hard about asking and finding ways to overcome those problems?

One of my boys, his sister had cancer (RIP). She lived her life in pain for so long, but she stood on her grounds and never thought about committing suicide. She lived her life, seen her kids grow up and now she's in heaven.
Maybe I wasn't clear enough. There are people that can't even move, are bedridden, live everyday in unbearable physical pain and could possibly live that way for years before dying. So do you think it would be selfish for them wanting to die? Or would it be selfish for their family to want them to suffer just so they don't have to go through the emotional pain when they do finally die?

Not saying your boys sister (RIP) wasn't in pain and struggling but still living life, but it doesn't sound exactly like the cases I am talking about.

I know what you talking about, I've seen many cases like that. Many of those families keep their loved ones alive hoping that some day there's a cure or something that would help them out to keep living without less pain....

Suicide is for the weak minded......

On top of that, these people would have been dead already 100 years ago. Are we morally obligated to stay alive/keep people alive longer than we naturally would have just because of technology? Because we can?

Isn't that the family being the selfish ones then though?

And I'm sure unbearing pain to the point where you are bedridden for your last months/years would make anyone "weak minded" as you like to put it.

it is a never ending discussion, trust me.

you do not want to go there with him, because only he can have an opinion on religion, everyone else is wrong.
I am no different than anyone who believes in a diety as far as expressing my opinion...proven by this statement below me.

ur trippin if you dont believe in heaven.....
Opinion.

thats all it is... opinion from a non believer, & thats cool to have your opinion, but for you to state it as fact, is where the bullshit begins.
Hmmmmm....

I was raised Catholic, but the older I got the more I realize there's no reason for me to beleive a bunch of fairytales from a book...

science is stronger than "faith"

no offense to people who believe in it... if it makes you feel better then that's cool

I actually think that maaaaybe there is possibly some higher power out there... but I don't know for sure... and nobody really does... unless they've died and gone to heaven... if such a place exists

difference is you are an advocate for people to no longer believe in their faith... always trying to prove people of faith wrong. EDIT: mainly the Christian faith, out of ALLLLL the other religions in the world, you are he biggest advocate against Christianity but steer clear of every other religion 99.9% of the time.

the other half is us that do believe, arent telling you that you should.

I aint trying to change your mind, we have spoke on the subject in the past, I know why you are against it, & thats all fine n dandy to have your opinion.

...but it is exactly that, an opinion & not facts.
Shea, I DO NOT push anything on anyone. In fact, and not saying YOU do this, but Christians are the biggest pushers in the world when it comes to their beliefs and values.

I simply state my opinion, just as EVERYONE else SHOULD do.

I only speak on Christianity because that is the #1 religion celebrated by members on the board. There are VERY few Muslims, and even fewer "other", such as Buddhists. I view all religious beliefs in the same light.
