NEW YORK (AP)—Mike D’Antoni has agreed to coach the New York Knicks, bringing his entertaining offensive style from the Phoenix Suns to a team coming off one of the worst seasons in its history.

A person within the NBA told The Associated Press on Saturday that the Suns coach has accepted an offer from the Knicks. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no official announcement had been made.

D’Antoni had two years left on his contract. Suns owner Robert Sarver wouldn’t confirm that D’Antoni had taken the New York job, but said, “Mike called me this morning to thank me, so I figured this was up.”

The offer is reportedly for $24 million over four years, making him one of the league’s highest-paid coaches. The Chicago Bulls also interviewed D’Antoni for their coaching job..

I dont see this one lasting long. D'Antoni likes to run, and the Knicks got slow feet all around. Plus he is not a disipline coach, and NY is all outcasts. Suns prolly try to get Avery now to get some defense in their guys.

his coaching really doesnt "fit" wit the players they got.

zach randolph and eddy curry running?? LOLOL. atleast they dont gotta worry about gettin yelled on D.

the NBA just aint the same i guess, when the knicks are just the laughing stock of the league. good luck to donnie walsh on trying to reshape the knicks, and its organization. good luck to d'antoni on coachin the knicks.

we all know what happened LAST TIME a big name coach came to NY. larry brown lasted how many years??

the only players on the Knicks that dont fit into the "run n' gun" style is Randolph and Curry, other then them 2 the Knicks have a very capable squad to run up n' down the court with ease. only thing im worried about is is their defense Curry and Randolph that is, because they already weren't to great at it to begin with and now they are getting a coach who likes to run its going to make them that more lousy on the defensive end...lol

Going from the Suns to the Knicks, wow.

If i was him, I'd just dig my own grave now and sleep in it.
Why dig your own grave when he has enough money to pay someone else to do it. Obviously this was only about money or he would have taken the Chicago job. And no matter what squad he takes over they won't be as good as the Suns (since good teams don't lose coaches). So D'Antoni has resigned trying to win and has decided to make as much money as he can.

As a Bulls fan, i always wanted them to hire A. Johnson instead of D'Antoni, but let's see if Chi can sing A. Johnson since there is rumors he might sit out next year.

The only potential the Knicks have is the potential to be a lottery team for the next 32 years.

They haven't done a goddamn thing since the walking talking human sweat gland Patrick Ewing left.

They have some nice young players, but a 12 year old disabled YMCA team might have more chemistry than them.

But shit, I'll just see what happens with D'Antoni. I wanna see them do better. Its weird watching the NBA playoffs and not seeing any games at MSG. Especially growing up and seeing all those heated series against either the Bulls or Pacers.
