The Lakers have been getting special treatment from the refs since they started their championship run in 2000. What confirmed that for me was that playoff game against the timberwolves in 2003. The officiating was so bad in that game, that the league issued an apology to the Timberwolves for the officiating. Even though the T-Wolves still won the game though.
