because the front cover of the motor has to be stamped sheet metal, so it can fit between the front wheels, also fwd cars do not have frames, subframe cars can not even survive a accident, on a frame car, you can replace the bushings, and it will ride like it is brand new, fwd cars are not even worth rebuilding the motor, people just donate them and get a new car.
