Jose "Chepo" Reynoso, manager/trainer of WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (41-0-1, 30KOs), says Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0, 26KOs) reneged on their agreement to compete in separate fights on May 4th and then meet each other on September 14th.

It was announced on Wednesday that Canelo would withdraw from Mayweather's card in May, and instead return on April 20th against WBA champion Austin Trout in San Antonio, Texas. Mayweather will go forward on the date May date in Las Vegas, facing challenger Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero.

According to Reynoso, Mayweather gave them his word that deal would be made prior to their respective May fights. Canelo would face Trout on Mayweather's card, and in return Mayweather would sign a contract to bind himself to a Canelo fight in the fall.

"The terms were not met by Mayweather. We had an agreement, although it was verbal. We had an agreement that Saul would appear on [Mayweather's] May card as the chief support. For us to do that, [Mayweather] said he was willing to sign [a contract for] a September fight with [Canelo]. They were supposed to fight different opponents [in May]. If they both came out as the winner, the idea was to have both of them fight each other on a date in September," Reynoso said.

what a piece of shit floyd just killed what could have been one of the best cards ever because he's scared to commit to canelo smh who's he gonna fight in the fall? cotto? berto? wow.

Ah no worries. So Floyd didn't want to give him a guarantee before they even have their upcoming fights. That's not how Floyd or most any fighter does business, its one fight at a time. If they both win they will negotiate, they both have the same promoter the fight will be made easy.

Canelo was only asking for a guarantee because he can make more money headlining his own show. It works out better for both fighters this way.

No one is scared of Canelo, least of all Floyd. Guys are begging to fight Canelo - Lara, Vanes, Angulo, Trout, everyone.

Yeah i always thought it was dumb to have a fight scheduled or supposedly guaranteed before u fight the fight your suppose to fight first. A lot of times one of the 2 fighters end up losing there next scheduled fight when there looking ahead to the big fight or in De la hoyas case lose but the refs rob the other fighter cuz theres to much money on the table for that next fight

What a dumb thread. This is the best thing u have wrote 206. Who the fuck is scared of Mr. red head lol?? I never liked making a fight before another fight. To me its disrespectful and probably a jinx. Tell Mr. Canelo to fight a tru 154 fighter first. Dudes hatin is at a all time high. Floyd dont need Canelo. Broner will step up and be the co-main event and I like that much better. Floyd scared of Canelo hahahahaahahahahahaha. Since when do cats get guarantees when they have other bouts before hand? lolololl. Got Em!!

So Canelo not fighting true 154 lbrs is not cool, yet Mayweather fightin Marquez at catchweight and not making weight then post that fight on his youtube channel right after pac vs marquez 4 is cool? why cant they meet at 150? even 147? if Canelo can make weight then why not?

lets keep it real floyd will NEVER fight canelo that's a fact. he's too big I'm sure his pops and his uncle have already told him that. why would be tell golden boy & canelo's camp that if canelo fights on the undercard that they would fight each other in september and then back out? we all saw Floyd's last fight and although he won he took more punishment in that fight then he ever has nose busted up and all. he doesn't have the legs he once had when he was younger to run around for 12 rounds and pick apart his opponents he just doesn't. could u imagine mayweather posted on the ropes the way he was against ortiz or cotto? canelo would hurt floyd bad. so maybe he ain't "scared" he's just "smart" and wants to keep his perfect record safe and sound.

im supposed to be going to this with my brother....he writes the boxing column for a small paper in san diego called "la prensa" i was under the impression that canelo was fighting someone else on this day?
same here bro I was suppose to go to vegas for this too canelo vs trout which could easily be a hbo headliner alone even a ppv and would pulled in solid numbers. now canelo will fight trout in april. not to be racist but mexicans ain't gonna pay $65 to watch 2 black guys fight on cinco de mayo real talk. mexicans don't really care for guerrero I myself am not a fan. from what I'm reading golden boy is scrambling to fill the canelo slot possibly josesito vs maidana which would be an entertaining slugfest.

i think the card for the Canelo fight is gonna be a huge ppv card with a lot of up and coming boxing stars while now that Mayweather is too controlling with his career and switching to showtime might create a divide with golden boy and mayweather camps doing business together. If Canelo wins then he becomes a proven champ for the time being while mayweather might even pull out of this fight due to "injury" or simply put no good undercard.

Dude Canelo has never fought a tru good 154er while u bring up one exception in Mayweather. Also bigger or not atleast Marquez is one of the best boxers in the world while Canelo fights smaller fighters who are all mediocre at best. U have no point here kid. Also why do u ask about weight and meeting at 150? Floyd has a fight with Guerrero and thats what he is focusing on. He might fight Canelo after this at 154. He never said anything about weight? The key is they both ALREADY HAVE A FIGHT LINED UP!!!! Worry about a Mayweather/Canelo fight if they both win their next fight. Got Em!!

I do think Canelo is to big but that doesnt mean Mayweather wont fight him after Guerrero. Again yall keep saying he is scared or smart. Why would he guarantee a fight whe n he has a fight. Why jinx it and why disrespect Guerrero by doin that? It makes no sense. When do fighters do that and how often? Get real. Got Em!!

Guess well see how many numbers the fight does. I bet it doesn better than Canelo's fight! Also Canelo's fight isnt gonna be PPV is it? No way will it touch Mayweather's numbers. Keep trying though. And oh yea it will most likely be Broner on the undercard and he gets views and buyers so its all good. Some Mexicans may not buy it but a lot of other nationalities will and overall it will do just fine. Got Em!!

Dude is the Canelo fight even on PPV? Also if anyone pulls out for injury it will probably be Canelo. Also if the undercard is Broner then u cant get no better than that so what are u talking about? Got Em!!

what's the last successful boxing ppv that didn't have mexicans on the card? Got Em!! latinos (mexicans) are the biggest boxing fans and supporters we love fucking boxing. asians (filipinos) only buy pacquiao ppv's that's a fact. white people especially younger whiteboys don't care for boxing their into ufc/mma. so your betting mostly on black folks alone to make this ppv a success so we'll see what goldenboy does last minute to make the latinos happy. btw who is Broner suppose to fight?

CZAR @CZAR if you read what i said then it makes complete sense. Mayweather knows his defense will only work on shorter or lighter fighters, hence it being successful with Broner as well. You see, I asked a question and asked if it was cool that Floyd bragged about an exception that you called out Canelo on. I agree with you on the calling out Canelo but Mayweather is also a fighter who protects his record rather than giving the fans what they want and its to see him get challenged for reals. By the way, Broner will not fight the undercard since he has to take care of his record to and fight another otta country midget that will make the undercard interesting. lets face it, golden boy has a lot of matches that can make the Canelo fight ppv worthy

Floyd fans are of every race. Its obviously not just black people buying his ppv's its all of boxing fans in general.

I doubt Canelo vs Trout will be a PPV. It's too soon for Canelo to headline a PPV.
I think a big chunk of Floyd's PPV viewers are people tuning in to see if his cocky ass gets beat for once, not because they are truly his "fans".

There are alot more people that hate the man then love em.

Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer said. "Floyd told us he
didn't have a problem fighting Canelo, but he wasn't going
to sign anything now. He said, 'All of my focus is on
Guerrero,' and I'm not signing anything to fight anybody
until after that fight is over.
I don't see how people are saying he's ducking when he has taken that stance with pretty much all of his fights. Watch any interview or face off and he will always tell you that he is concerned with the upcoming fight or the person in front of him not the next fight or the one after that.

Mayweather haters are just reaching on this one.
