Have you been to Brooklyn? If not you probably shouldn't speak on it. My cousin lived in Bed-Stuy from 99 to 01, and I got another cousin out there now. Brooklyn is grimey as fuck. Unless you've been to these east coast hoods that you're speaking of and have seen them with your own eyes, what you're saying has no merit. Niggas need to quit drawing conclusions from music videos and Google Maps.
Shit i remember a few years back when I was in DC. Me and my pops was driving around looking for a gas station, we drove past Howard U and I swear on the next street was jects after jects. Hella niggas on the corner just starring at us when we drove by lol. The first thing ma pops said was "this look like West Oakland."
i'm drunk off that VSOP right now, so let me try my best to explain...
we're not talking about how "grimy" brooklyn, or other cities are. we're talking about how they look. and from what i recall from my visits to new york, much of brooklyn was undergoing gentrification... and abandonment there isn't anywhere as widespread as it is in philadelphia, camden, newark, baltimore, etc... and as far as the west goes, the white flight phenomenon / depopulation, disinvestment, and abandonment on the west coast never hit anywhere near as bad as it did on the east coast, the midwest, and the south... so hence, the west coast has the nicest looking ghettos.
