UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will meet Shane Carwin in his second title defense at UFC 106 on Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Sherdog.com has confirmed the news through several sources with knowledge of the agreement. MMAMadness.com was the first to report on the card shift that will see Carwin move from a scheduled bout against Cain Velasquez at UFC 104.

Carwin has not answered calls for comment, but posted a message on his official Web Site Wednesday night.

“I can't confirm or deny anything. I can just tell you guys that I am training harder then ever and your support and loyalty will carry me through any fight they send my way,” he wrote.

Scheduling problems led to the dissolution of the previously agreed to Carwin-Velazquez matchup, according to a UFC source speaking anonymously because they were not authorized speak.

Lesnar, the company’s top pay-per-view draw, had minor surgery after defeating Frank Mir in July, creating uncertainty as to when he would be available to fight again.

His quick recovery allowed the promotion to bring him back in November, but with all of the top heavyweights already scheduled to fight, it was necessary to break up one of those bouts.

Carwin became a buzzworthy suitor for the champion following swift first-round technical knockouts over Neil Wain at UFC 89 and Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 96. Carwin, a 1999 NCAA Div. II wrestling champion, battled back from an early knockdown from the Brazilian to finish Gonzaga with his heavy hands.

Lesnar, 32, unified the heavyweight title and avenged his only loss with a second-round drubbing of former interim champion Frank Mir at UFC 100 last July. Lesnar, a 2000 NCAA Div. I heavyweight champion, won the title against perennial competitor Randy Couture by second-round TKO at UFC 91 last November. It was the former World Wrestling Entertainment star’s fourth professional bout.

most of the heavyweights are either young in age or experience. what do you want them to do? have no one fight for the title.
I'm not saying it's any fighters fault, it's just a joke when UFC's bouncing all these fights around and relying on overhyping everyone to make it seem like they're deserving of a title shot. When UFC was going to bring Fedor in they wanted the fight at 103, Brock's camp said they didn't want to fight until 108 on january 2nd. Since they didn't sign Fedor, why didn't they go through with Carwin vs. Cain and have the winner fight Brock at 108? That would've been the most deserving guy for a shot, but they said fuck it and are gonna put Carwin in there when his only decent win is Gonzaga which is funny because they did the same thing with him when he beat Cro Cop.
People are already saying the winner of Cain-Rothwell will get the next shot after that, which is retarded.
I want to see the winner of Nog-Randy fight Cro Cop if he beats Dos Santos for the next shot. Or Dos Santos vs. Randy because if Dos Santos and Nog win they're fucked because they won't fight each other. If Brock's still champ I doubt the average fan wants to see him fight Randy again, but Randy was fucking him up the first round. If Nog gets back to the title it would be insane, and same for Cro Cop. If Dos Santos gets through that we'll know enough to see if he can be the champ.
Mir-Kongo is 2 guys coming off losses so if they can put together some nice streaks they might be deserving. But I don't want to see Mir fight Brock again and Kongo's in the same boat as Barry-Hardonk where they're never going to beat a grappler. Hague-Duffee is an awesome prospect fight but both of them are far away from a title fight.
Al Turk sucks, Gonzaga chokes, Ciesnolevicz hasn't shown much, McCully sucks, Herring's not half the fighter he used to be, Struve got killed by Dos Santos, Tuchscherer's a slob...

And I have no idea what my point is now but I think I just ran down the whole division lol.

lol UFC heavyweights are once again a joke. You now get a title shot after beating 10 cans and Gonzaga, against a guy with 5 fights.
What do you want, a bunch of old busted up has been fighters? heavy weights have short careers usually(dont bring up randy i know), too much wear and tear, before pride went down, Fedor, Cro Cop, and nog where the top 3 heavy weights in the world, the ufc has done there best to get 2 out of those 3 fighters, who the fuck else do you expect them to get?

Just think it's funny when Dana White's saying Fedor's ducking top competition to fight guys like Brett Rogers, when a guy who's practically the same fighter in the UFC is getting a title shot.

The ufc doesn't need fedor at all right now because the public has no clue as to who in the hell fedor is. Maybe if CBS and strikeforce build up fedor, they'll need him.

And carwin would destroy Rogers. He has more power and carwin is a division two NCAA national champion wrestler. Plus carwin is way bigger than Rogers. I like Rogers, but he's just a street fighter.

lmao Rogers dwarfs Carwin. UFC lists Carwin as like 6'4" 265 but he's actually about 6' and weighed in at 259 his last fight. Rogers is 6'5" 265.
Plus Carwin's never used his wrestling in the UFC besides when he got back up with Gonzaga on top of him. He's boxed in every fight, and been dropped by Gonzaga and wobbled by Wellisch. I would say Carwin might have more power than him though. Carwin's 1 punch KO'd people other than Arlovski lol.
