this topic is played out and I think most fans have moved on. most educated fight fans can appreciate both sports while at the same time understanding they are both totally different.

it takes true warriors to fight for a living regardless of which sport. respect should be equal.

I voted boxing as I do like it more than MMA. Im sure it has to do with growing up with boxing as its been around for a very long time. I only been into the MMA for like maybe 4-5 years or so and I like it a lot but it will never surpass boxing in my opinion. Got Em!!

UCMMA is a joke. They also let a fucking British Soap Opera star fight and had his fight obviously fixed.

Anyway combat sports in general are all awesome to me. I love to watch anything boxing, MMA, kickboxing, grappling, whatever.

I rather train MMA than boxing, but I train boxing as well.
I rather watch boxing than MMA, but I watch MMA as well.
I think the average boxing fan have a better rep than the average MMA fan, since everyone is a tap out bro these days.
I think boxing is a lot more rigged than MMA. I've seen bad MMA calls, but nothing compared the the robbery and dirt that goes on in boxing.

They both have their pros and cons.

whatever you happened to grow up on is probably what you prefer. i started watching mma at the end of the 90's, thanks to ken shamrock turning to pro wrestling (lol. & as i recently found out, the legendary bret hart played a role in that). the sport has evolved greatly, & i cant say its all been for the better. point-fighting, the prevalence of wrestling, & fights being more mechanical than raw & organic have all lead to me be disappointed on many occasions. in my opinion the sport was more exciting when it was less refined.

that being said, heres my opinion--- a boring boxing match is worse that a boring mma fight, if only because it lasts longer. an exciting boxing match has a build-up the likes of which you cant find in mma. however, a good mma fight is far more unpredictable, & is far more likely to have those big "oh shit" moments that leave an impression.

i still consider myself an mma fan first and foremost, but both sports have & will continue to provide me with endless hours of entertainment. czar is kinda trollin with this thread. GOT EM!!

U made some good points but why do I have to be trolling? This thread was made out of seriousness. I have sevral friends who dont like boxing and they say MMA is better and has surpassed boxing when I dont think so. I was really curious of what the forum thought. I dont troll buddy.

Here is another reason why I prefer boxing before MMA. Last nights PPV was terrible. Pretty much all the fights were weak and boring. Here is the difference. In boxing u cant just grab and hold and sit or stand there all day. In boxing the ref breaks up all tangles, holds etc...so u have to fight. Thats really the weakness for me in MMA is when they grapple and both fighters just stand there for several minutes and u see that a lot in MMA. Boxing can be boring at times but very rare for me and its usually do to the lack of punches being thrown but it usually doesnt last for a long time. Again u just cant tie a guy up and expect to sit there and hold him as it will be broken so theres no escape. Just another thought. Got Em!!

Love watching both sports, don't feel the need to choose one.

I support both.

I will say this: Live event for live event, UFC events are way funner to attend than boxing matches, IMO. Now, I'm talking about big cards, cause I don't go to a lot of smaller local events.

Boxing crowds are full of stars and star gazers...and old geezers. Because the prices for most big fights are ridiculous.

That said, there is absolutely NOTHING like the electric buzz during a big boxing fight weekend...especially if it's in Vegas.
