I don't know if anyone is trying to justify anything. The main question is, why does it even matter to anyone that's not financially involved with any of it? The only time I complain about anything to do with money in boxing is when guys are grossly underpaid for putting their bodies and minds on the line, other than that I really don't care how much money a fight brings in.

Neither HBO, K2, Golden Boy, or Golovkin are going to ruined or hurt by this one PPV in the least bit.

I'm going to watch any fight on any platform, my main question going into any fight is is it a fight between 2 top 15 fighters in the division or for a major title in the division? If the answer to that is yes then I'm fine (obviously different for fights involving prospects). I don't see how anyone can change their perspective on a fight on whether other people watched it, what promotions they fight under, or what channel it's on.

There's a card coming up on 11/4 in Russia that's filled with good fights and it's likely to only be broadcast there and maybe in the UK. We're in an age where nearly everything is made available and I don't really care how the promoters/providers line their pockets as long as the fighters aren't getting dicked.

Good news, glad to see Nevada stepping up to block bullishit fights. I hope to see more of this.

Nevada Commission says "no" to the Rohan Murdock vs. Andre Ward mismatch

Ben Damon ‏@ ben_damon
Both parties have agreed but now the Nevada commission looks likely to block this fight. Ward wanted it at 175lbs

I've gathered from other sources the Nevada Commission has in fact said "no" to this ugly mismatch.

Makes me wonder wth is going on with Ward? He must have some confidence issues to want to fight multiple soft touches and forcing them out of their own weight classes. Maybe his past injury was worse than he led us to believe? Whatever the case he is not acting like one of boxings best fighters, he's acting like a guy that just got KTFO.

Ward has talked a good game and the NSAC are seeing the bullshit for what it is. This ain't music, where you live off royalties for shit you did six years ago. This man is still living off shit he did shit years ago and will remind you of it every chance he gets because he hasn't done anything since except beat a weight drained Dawson at a catch weight. He has stayed relevant by keeping the name of other fighters in his mouth. In addition the pseudo good guy image is glass.

While I think Ward Vs. Murdock is a shit fight, this is the same commission that allowed LSC Vs. Cayetano, plus allow undefeated fighters to pad their records against guys with losing records all the time.

I hope it's a sign of things to come with them but it's a bit on the curious why they chose this fight to make their moral stand on.

I don't think it's the one fight that's a problem, I think it has to do with the fact he's coming off the Paul Smith tune up where he was a 70-1 favorite. But yeah, obviously this doesn't mean a lot of there is no consistency. Boxing seriously is hurting right now from a lack of authority and regulation.

Latest I read today is a quote from Canelo, saying he will NOT fight Golovkin next unless it's at 155 pounds and that he will need another year or two before "his body is ready for 160, despite consistently weighing 173-174 pounds on fight night and weighing 168 pounds today!!! If the WBC doesn't enforce the mandatory immediately and strip Canelo, what is the Damn point in having any rules? Might as well toss everything out of the window and stop calling it a sport.

True but at least they are taking a stand now. This is a guy who is ranked 2 in the p4p list yet he's fighting guys where the odds are 70-1. Lol.

Not related, but I certainly don't think Ward should be ranked p4p if he's taking these kinds of fights. He shouldn't be after Paul Smith.

The Ring magazine took a stand a bit on the Canelo Golovkin issue and said they will take away Canelo's (or Cotto) Ring "lineal" belt if he doesn't fight Golovkin, which could be a first.

So the latest for Andre Ward's opponent is it's now looking like 38 year old super middleweight journeyman Alexander Brand, who started boxing at age 32. Ward will have him move up to 175 pounds. Not sure if that's a step up from Rohan or not as I know nothing about this guy.

Brand's an awkward fighter. Thought he beat Badou Jack when he fought him on Showtime (close fight, not really a robbery IMO). Besides that doesn't look like he's fought anyone worth mentioning except maybe Acosta who got smoked by Stieglitz in his title shot.

FWIW, I'd pick him to beat Murdock I guess.
