Well, it's a stereotype. Being a cheapskate isn't a positive thing. Some stereotypes are just stupid but still offensive. Like black people loving watermelon. If a team called themselves The Watermelons with a logo of a black dude lol people would be pissed. But if you think about it what's wrong with liking watermelon? It's delicious

I guess the question is though is WHY being a "cheapskate" isnt a positive thing.

Snyder has said he would not change the name as long as he is owner.... Redskins have had that name since 1933 and no one really complained over it till the mid 90's, I believe. If it should have been changed, it should have taken place many decades ago!

Hmmmm....

I don't see much of a difference or a big deal!!!

I am called a black man!!!

Lmao!!! What kind of shit is that???
I don't really have a problem with it, but it's funny if you think about it!!!

The term "redskin" could never compare to "nigger, wetback, cracker, kike, sand-nigger, etc..."

keep the name!!!
Stop crying over something that really has nothing to do with nothing!!!

That is all...
I agree with you man, but if black people don't want others to call them that word, you guys need to stop using it yourself. You can't use it in every sentence every song every movie and then expect others not to say it and not get offended by it.

One is prideful the other derogatory, obviously.

I would imagine that depends entirely on who you ask.

Is an Irish person who takes offense to "fighting" stereotype wrong in your opinion?

Objectively, I think most people would agree being frugal is better than being a fighter.

Notre Dame tries to spin the name to have positive associations, much the same way people try to the Redskins name to be one with a positive history rather than the one Butcher stated.

Really lol? "The Penny Pinching Jews" is better than The Fighting Irish? Cmon, son.

The Fighting Irish name came from Irish people. Doesn't quite have the history of the redskins name does it?

The point is the responses are all very subjective. Even to the degree of the origins of the name.

And yeah, like IPIM said earlier, I respect people who save their money. I don't respect drunkards who like to start fights.

Now you stereotyping. Its not the Fighting Irish cuz Irish people like to get drunk and start fights, its cuz they fought oppression.
