This thread has a lot to do with what some would consider bias, favoritism and local artist being overlooked by a larger power structure. Then why are we not discussing that originally this record was by a young, up and coming group from the Bay- The Trunk Boiz. This is me kind of playing the "Devils Advocate", but it also denotes that this RAP GAME is a cold ass BUSINESS and the name/brand you build means everything, because we wouldn't even have this thread had not Bigger artist A adopted smaller artist B's original record in the first place and took it from local to regional. 50 on the remix of a remake makes it have Nation Wide potential.

the record is taking off in many other regions across the country, not just the Bay Area

it's being played in Detroit, Chicago, L.A., New York and other areas

Hot 97 in NY played it the day after it came out, thats huge, yes 50 boosted it, but it had to be a dope record to begin with, if you add diamonds to shit, it's just sparkly shit

the issue with the original is that the quality was low and they had autotone on the chorus, which made the song sound like everything else out there.

50 isnt selling as much as he would like by himself, so he's getting a colab goin

40 and short probably are not happy either, so they're getting a colab going. they need each other. i just hope that we can get a new artist on the scene on a song like this, someone other than short and 40. no respect to those legends but we need new people to get their name out. sometimes i feel like short and 40 got a radio monolopy on this shit liek if everytime the bay is mentioned 40 and short have to somehow be in the conversation. it's good for them no doubt, but for us listeners who want this stuff be expanded we have to have more notable names out there not just two older guys. lets say philthy rich or husla were on that track to, instead of too short. i dunno it still would do pretty good imo.

lil b, i don't think too many people are happy with him.

Let me touch on a few things on here. 1st off Trick is bring played all over the world not just the USA. Everyday the record is getting picked up by a different radio station. Some stations choose the 50 version some do the original. In radio records dont just go to 100+ spins a week (power rotation or A list RECORD) They start off in mix show and over nights and continue to grow. Trick is growing at KMEL weekly and thats why you hear it more and more. It has nothing to do with 50 on it or not. The song was never intended to be a radio single. The record took off on the streets then moved to the clubs in the bay and LA then radio added it from there.

Why does it always have to be a von issue on here? You guys know that von has a boss at kmel right? Von has input but not the final say on the playlist.

So out of all these threads on the front page, you decide to click on the single obviously "gossip" one to lump everyone as a whole huh? that makes sense.

Von's the Program Director, which is why it's a Von issue. Everything else I can agree with.

LOL this was funny honestly I don't care about who's on TV if you read my posts. Video's & TV don't mean shit anymore. Anybody can make a video now, and anybody does. Most wack rappers have some HD video they made and put on Youtube. The game is damn near done.
