Too bad they don't give employees commission; you could cake up on this free advertising.

Instead it just looks like corporate cock sucking.

Its a good deal, on any electronics with moving parts. But that-about-it.

Those service plans and replacement plans are almost all margin for Best Buy...I'm talking like 95% profit.

I used to work for Best Buy, and the only thing worth getting the " Performance Service Plan " for is Car Audio. They only cover Normal Wear & Tear for up to 3 years. Now your speakers and Head Units are more likely to fry or blow quicker than any other electronic and also harder to actually do abuse or cause physical damage to. Best buy gets you on the fact that physical damage voids the Service plan. So if you buy the $40 service plan and you take it in because your headphone jack doesn't work, they can say that the scratch on the screen is from you dropping the device thus having "physical damage " allowing them to deny your claim.

As far as digital cameras, buying a 3 year extended warranty ( they don't like to call it that but that's what it is ) is kind of a waste. Electronic junkies like me keep the same camera maybe a year and a half tops. Cameras are also much more prone to being dropped.

customer: Consumer reports told me not to get the extended warranty.

me: but I'm not selling you an extended warranty. What I'm offering you is service for 3 years.:dead:

it depends on what you're getting....it makes sense for say an ipod, the replacement battery is $60, about the same as the "warranty", but you get then newer model when you have the warranty, as opposed to the same model if you buy it thru apple. car audio should ALWAYS have a warranty, because you're bound to blow your speakers and thats considered normal wear & tear. also if a button falls off you can replace your deck. just dont tell them that you yanked the button off with pliers.

I have some kind of warranty shit on my speakers from best buy. I wonder how fucked up I'd have to prove them to be to get new ones. my boy has speakers in his car from circuit city or something and got a warranty on em, replaced them like 4 times already cause they blew out.
