That sucks, but I haven't seen too much promotion/radio play for turf this time around. I'll pick up my copy sometime soon, and hopefully the nice review on allhiphop.com helps him out. He needs to drop a video!
Can we get some numbers for Brotha Lynch Hung? Really curious how Ripgut Collectionz turned out. I mean, I support all his work, except for this one cause I'm not about buying greatest hits albums when I already have all the "greatest hits" and I can mix together my own favorite songs. I'd expect this project to turn out the lowest numbers for a release he's seen. Aside from the other artists on his label. I'm not tryin to talk shit at all, but it seems like a bad business move.
Quick... and i appreciate that support... thats what i need... but cmon now u know it had to be politics and a reason for my scans 2 be as low as they are... but im not the type of nigga to air my family's dirty laundry... but i couldnt sit here and let niggaz keep talkin shit without at a semi response from the horses mouth...
and NO im not ashamed of my scans becuz alotta wasnt expectin me to sell shit! alotta people didnt even believe i really had a deal wit koch... so everything i earned last year was a plus to me... becuz 1st of all im the hardest workin rapper PERIOD... and now i got a head that artist would kill for! 106 n park? MTV JAM OF THE WEEK? xxl, source, ebony magazine, concerts, etc etc etc... NOBODY expected Big Rich to get any of that shit! so fuck yeah im excited about my future... im workin wit alotta clout right now pimp... im good
but once again thanx for the support... but i aint goin nowhere... im still winnin!
i know a lot of people that tried to cop it and it was not where it was supposed to be. the street support for big rich ain't reflected in those numbers.
RealRich- exactly... Ive personally met waaaay more people that told me they love my album compared to my soundscans... there was politics that came into play wit the low scans for my album BLOCK TESTED HOOD APPROVED thats between me and my labels... at the release of my album there wasnt any other artist wit the buzz i had... so my numbers should of been thru the roof right??? well they werent... only way to prevent that in the future is as an artist is continue to make good music and grow creatively...
and oh yeah... MY BOOTLEG GAME WAS CRAZY... 20,000 FREE DOWNLOADS THE 1ST WEEK?? DAMN... and yes i have proof of the downloads... my shit got smashed
the way to prevent the shit in the future is not release a mixtape with alot of the same songs on it. no one wants to buy your shit twice. really everyones talkin politics and bootleg this and that well "thats the business" record labels expect a percentage to be downloaded. and your talkin about consumer responsibilities well the artist and labels responsibility is to make the cd more appealing than the mp3.
yea id like to see brotha lynch, andre nickatina, yukmouth, killa tay, and id also like to know how Proofs-Searching for Jerry Garcia sold since he died, thanks if u can do it
Its funny that the bay area has now graced the status of the other places that place judgement of an artists ability based on soundscan numbers. Honestly, its good that Locomotive put those up. There are HELLA people here in the bay who are waaaaaay over hyping themselves and lying about what they sellin. They think if they boast their sales they look better. Check your fuckin ego at the door. Thats why rap is losing and rock and alternative is making a comeback. No one wants to hear what you got, or how you murder people anymore. My point is all the fans can see thru the bullshit and lies finally. Hopefully after all is said and done, real dope music will again prevail.
And whoever said its easy to get soundscan numbers...not really. You have to know someone to get them. At least to get what you want, like underground artists.
