nope. "civil war" is not why hip hop is looked down upon. the real reason is because the most popular rappers are the ones who just rap about ignorant materialistic bullshit. ppl who say they hate rap, will listen to something like zion i and be all surprised by the quality of the music. but they would have never known cause all they hear is the hip hop played on the radio, which for the most part is garbage, and so is the underground hip hop that is just trying to go make money and fits its style to whats considered "hot" in the mainstream. ppl dont rap for the love of rap, but simply to make money to get out of the projects. thats the problem
