I smell bullshit, bussers never make that much in tips!!!!!

So say she makes on one night $120 which is 2% of the waiters gross sales. That means the waiter sold $6000 in food/drink before taxes.

Which also means the waiter, before tipping made $900 if she made 15% his/herself. I doubt it.
not bullshit ask a "food runner" at claim jumper how much they make in tip

2% is reccomended of the waiters (most nights she works alone and has 3-4 servers tipping her out)

lol at lieing about how much mys sister makes on the internets

You have to be a people person (or at least pretend to be) to be a good waiter. You can be an asshole to your customers, but if you want to last (and make a good living), you need to have people want to and enjoy being in your section/area. Also, those tips may sound good, but are you being allocated on your paycheck? Like, for example, you may have a certain percentage/dollar amount taken out of each hour you work, and you may also have to tip a busser or stock person out of your own pocket each night.

You may make 100 bucks at the end of the night, but after tipping the busser and stocker, you might be left with 60. That's still obviously better than nothing, but you have to treat them well, also. They help keep things going for you, with clean dishes, cleaning your tables sometimes, etc.

Customers expect great service; put a smile on your face and be polite. Call them assholes AFTER your shift, if you have to, but people don't mind rewarding you for your time and service, and making them feel good for a short while.

I used to work in a resort casino, in the buffet, and it was nothing to avg. 5 bucks a customer, and for every 1-2 dollar tip, you'd catch a 10, if you were decent. You don't have to suck a dick to get a big tip, but you can be polite and courteous to make a good living.

One more thing, remember your regular customers, so they'll come back to you. Repeat customers are great, especially when you've developed a relationship in which they feel you're their freind rather than just some waiter in a restaurant; you'll see your tips increase and they'll send people your way.

Good luck.

but you get tipped out by all the servers...regardless, that's a lot.

i've been a server for years...it's chill, but it really depends on the restaurant. i used to serve at applebee's and i had to deal with asshole customers all the time. i work at a pretty nice restaurant now, and i don't have to deal with that kinda bullshit anymore. the fucked up thing about serving is that you get minimum wage, so in times like this, when the economy is shitty and nobody is going out to eat, you don't get paid very much. sometimes i can make $100 in tips in 2.5 hours. it depends. it's a chill job sometimes, but when you hit a big rush, it's stressful as hell. and having a piece of shit manager like i have doesn't help out too much.

@ Montroller: I don't know how your sister makes that much as a busser; seriously, that's a HUGE amount. That's actually a decent night as a waiter, without cashing anyone else out. LOL I'm not trying to say your sister is sucking customer's dicks to get extra money, so don't think that...

...lol! I'm playing (kind of), but that's a lot of money. Ask her (seriously) if there's any jobs available, because I make great money at my job, and could probably own the place in 5 years or so, and become a millionaire in about 10 years...but I'd rather make that busboy money and get rich right now.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah boy.

that aint bullshit. im sure his sis makes that at the claimjumper as a foodrunner. she has a bunch of servers tipping her out a certain percentage of that servers sales. everyone else makin more on a good night like that. she has her slow ass nights too nowadays tho especially in this economy. unless she just work weekends since she a kid or somethin. i bartend/serve at the airport and i never make less than 200 a shift but its a ten hour shift usually, 4 days a week and if they are flying they usually got money. i get decent benefits but my servers dont have to tip me out a certain percentage of their sales and they always screw you. i am at 52k on my pay stub with a month to go but i dont claim all my tips either just the credit card tips and a little more just to keep it safe. but its still a bartending/serving job which isnt the best and anytime you are serving the public in your job it gets pretty madening
