I worked with a dude from Africa that got deported. His name was Eugene Haha
he wasn't from africa. he was from crenshaw mafia...

I am currently a dishwasher and busser at a local diner. I also have to stock freezers and manage waste and clean the place after.

lol, what a faggot.

when they close and the cooks start piling up their closing shit....OH man....
As someone who has worked as a cook also, I have to tell you we do that shit on purpose sometimes. If we want to test someone out, we'll let shit stack up and then flood them all at once at the beginning of a rush so you have to hustle to get it back to us as soon as possible.

End of the night flooding is what it is. All that shit has to be washed and we can't give it to you until we close down, just the way it is.

...on the real though, I rather wash a stack of dishes then have to clean a fryer every night.

If you get a dishwashing job at the right place it actually isn't all that bad and is better than a lot of other jobs I can think of. When I was in high school I was a dishwasher at one of the nicest restaurants in town and I had a lot of fun at it because I had few friends already working there.

Like others have said, you can get high, and sometimes drunk too on the job. They would pass the half drank wine bottles back to us and we'd pour them into cups and get absolutely wasted. You'd always get fed too. The cooks liked me at the spot I was working at so they always made me a nice dinner. Eating prime rib and steaks 3+ nights a week as a high schooler was sweet.

Do a good job at it and you will probably get moved up in time. Most restaurants like to work people up the ladder. Just make it known to management and they'll pay closer attention to you if you're working hard and they'll notice.

I miss having a shit don't give a fuck job. Only time I washed dishes was when I worked at Mickey D's back in high school. I'd do it at a restaurant though if I had to. Find one with a lot of hot chicks that work their also.

Why not just be a bus boy? You make the minimum, plus you get cut in on tips.
good point, but i'd actually rather wash dishes

it was funny though, i went yesterday to 2 places (trendy restaurants by the beach) but both of them just had ppl fill out apps and leave cause manager wasnt there

both were hiring for multiple positions. ive never worked in a restaurant so wasnt trying to be a server or whatever bc it seems for those more important positions there will ppl applying with experience... so thats why im fine with just washing dishes

i felt so weird filling out an app and putting down my working history as a lead researcher for the university research foundation and teaching at schools and putting down my masters degree...all to be a dishwasher. no knock on dishwashing but they must think i fucked up royally in my field or something and am now resorting to washing dishes for a living.

also this one mexican dude who barely spoke english was filling out an app and im not sure if he was going for cook or dishwasher, but if he was going for dishes id feel like shit if i got the job over him. hes trying to feed a family and i just want a little extra flow to eat out during the summer and shit. if anything hes probably got better experience than me and will get the job over me which is how it should be

so i dont know, maybe ill just sign up for xtraplan and set up a lemonade stand for some extra money in the next couple months

why exactly would you rather diswash having any sort of masters degree tho, i mean take a desk job?

well u know what, explain that to the interviewer...dont answer me...im not gonna turn you down or give you the job

i somewhat admire the fact youll do that, i turned my nose up at a cashier job, i respect that...most of us just take UI and hustle lol
