Just because life isn't perfect, doesn't mean there is no God.
Just because a flood happened, or people are hungry, doesn't mean there is no God.
Ok.
Maybe believing that the Lord (in an Atheirst's case - if there is A God) is supposed to be almighty and great solving everyones problems, is the first distraction.
Ok, I will throw this notion out, however this should eliminate the Christian god.
Why do people have to be proven something all the time?
Why? Because extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. If I told you a unknown force called “Sixxplopolious” existed over the region of Brazil, but it could not be seen nor fully understood, created the universe and came out of George Bush’s ass, you wouldn’t ask for some kind of proof or would you just take my word for it?
If someone tells you that someone else is out to put a hit on you, are you going to stand around and wait for a gun in your face? Only stated because it seems that everyone here is real, and lives down to Earth (forget about spirituallity for a sec).
This is different because I know that humans exist. I know that guns exist. I know that murder exists. Now, no one has the slightest clue what god or sixxplopolioius are.
If you think people are always going to prove things to you, just so you believe it, good luck because most people couldn't care less if you believed or not (unless they were trying to sell you something) and won't spend the time to do so. So why would God? It's up to you to believe it or not (either way doesnt't bother me one bit), but the lack of having it proved to you is a bare level excuse, even in real life.
So I should just force myself to believe in something? Ok, why don’t you force yourself to believe in different god or Sixxplopolious? Makes absolutely no sense at all, there is no logic, no reasoning behind believing in something without the slightest bit of evidence. Your logic does not compute.

Nah bro, it's cuz them New Orleans' folks practice VOODOO yadamean. God was showing us his wrath, cuz he's not all loving like you might have heard. btw, I don't actually believe that bullshit, but I have heard church monsters attempt to give that explanation...
Damn, people actually said that?!
If God is so perfect, why does he experience wrath? Why does he murder? If God is so perfect, and WE are the sinners, did he not create sin? If he created us, didn't he fail? I can't understand how God is so perfect and we're so evil when he supposedly created us....
These are good questions to ask, which unfortunately, no Christian can truly answer.

Yes, it’s a pretty interesting cult that sucks a lot of money out of its followers, like most other religions.

But other than organized religion, what spiritual knowledge do you have?
I don’t understand the question.
According to dictionary.com, spiritual means:
spir•i•tu•al (sp r -ch - l)
adj.
1. Of, relating to, consisting of, or having the nature of spirit; not tangible or material. See Synonyms at immaterial.
2. Of, concerned with, or affecting the soul.
3. Of, from, or relating to God; deific.
4. Of or belonging to a church or religion; sacred.
5. Relating to or having the nature of spirits or a spirit; supernatural.
Under these definitions I have absolutely no “spiritual knowledge.” I do not believe in souls, gods, spirits, or the supernatural. I am a materialist - Everything that actually exists is material, or physical, including thought, feeling, mind, and will, all can be explained in terms of matter and physical phenomena.
@PGBD, I agree with you for the most part. I would add to that that the belief in Gods changed to the belief in a single god as the structures of society changed. In the hunter gatherer societies that lived freely, they believed in gods such as Wind, water, the sun, earth, etc. Once societies started to change and people were living under kings, etc., you'll find that they started to believe in single gods.
