Okay let me ask this to all the Atheists on the board. What would this "God" look like for you to accept it as vaild proof? It seems like a repeating arguments that there isnt tangible evidence of a Supreme Being, well what would be sufficent evidence?
I have no idea what god would look like since I have no idea what god is supposed to look like, but I wouldn’t necessarily say that I need to actually see god. What I would need in order for me to reexamine by current belief system is some kind of evidence, at least SOME evidence that points to some kind of supernatural phenomena actually occurring. Maybe something that breaks the laws of physics or is not confined to the laws of physics or mathematics. Or maybe if I dropped a pencil one day and instead of falling down it fell up.

My question to all theists, which I asked a long time ago in a thread, is why do you believe in god?

So far, I haven’t really heard one logical explanation.

I like Billy Grahams answer to a similar question:

BILLY GRAHAM IN MY OPINION

Q. I grew up in a Christian home, but over the years I drifted away from it and don't believe in God at all now. My question is this: Once a person is a convinced atheist, is there any hope of becoming a believer again? I don't see how it's possible, but I'd be interested in your answer.

A. by Graham.
It's possible for a convinced atheist to become a believer -- if they aren't close-minded. Unfortunately, many convinced atheists aren't really willing to reexamine the evidence honestly and fairly. I hope that won't be the case with you.

I could, of course, give you a number of reasons why it makes sense to believe in God; you probably already know them. But look at Jesus Christ -- not through the "lens" of your past experiences, but through the "lens" of the New Testament. Before you begin reading it, I challenge you to pray something like this: "God, I don't even know if you exist -- but if you do, show yourself to me." God will answer that prayer.

Why do I urge you to look at Christ? The reason is because he made a very startling claim about himself: he said he was God in human flesh. "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30). Do you want to know what God is like? Look at Jesus, "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form" (Colossians 2:9).

Jesus said, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find" (Matthew 7:7). Don't let anything keep you from seeking God, for he loves you, and coming to know him will be the greatest discovery you will ever make.

:::
:::

I actually read this yesterday and I stared at the wall and said in my mind “God, I don't even know if you exist -- but if you do, show yourself to me." I am patiently waiting for god to show himself. I DEMAND YOU REVEAL YOURSELF TO ME NOW GOD! I see nothing. What am I supposed to be looking for?

This is going to be my ONLY reply to this thread and please do NOT answer it here. Answer the question yourself on your OWN time, but PLEASE don't post it here.

When you did that was it so God could reveal himself to you or so you could add more doubt? Were you sincere in what you did or were you looking for the clouds to part, a heavenly light to shine and a booming voice from heaven saying "Lo, and behold I have come to thee to reveal the truth to thee. Thou art 2-0-6 and ye have asked and received"?

Okay, 714KaliHydro said something doesn't come from nothing and 2-0-Sixx replied:

1. If this is true then the universe has always existed.
2. If this is true and you believe in god, then something must have created god and something created that and so on and so forth.
Number 2 is incorrect because it refers to that which "comes" (i.e. something doesn't come from nothing). If God never came and was always "there" then He is exempt from that logic.

I have no problem with number 1. The universal energy always exists because it is an emanation from God just as the sunshine is an emanation from the sun globe.

Firstly, let me apologise for being so slow to reply to this topic, I haven't checked gathering of minds for a while now...

I'm sure that, if you've read previous posts by me, you know I'm an athiest. I agree with every post on this thread by 2-0-Sixx. I must ask his question once again to remind the believers to reply - 'My question to all theists, which I (2-0-Sixx) asked a long time ago in a thread, is why do you believe in god?'

Well, why?

and seriously, don't say some shit like - 'because I prayed and he heard me' or anything like that

Me? I don't believe in God or dieties of any kind. I don't believe in spirits, souls or reincarnation. I don't believe that any mysterious force pervades the universe (unless you're talking about theoretical physics, in which case theres atleast a slim chance of that existing).

When we die, we turn to dust, born one day and gone the next - not onto a new life but simply ceasing to exist. When your heart stops beating that is final. Our creative thoughts come from neural connections, nothing more and nothing less. There is no ether which intoxicates our simple brains, imparting on us the ability to think, learn, construct or create anything. Just because we don't understand the exact way in which this occurs doesn't mean that we should say 'God did it' like everything else. Thankfully God is taking the back seat in todays society. We have found logical explanations for many things which we used to think were unexplanable, and with that Gods grip on our minds has loosened. Unfortunately, he still has many of our hearts.

So you claim you believe in god? If someone asks me a question and I'm not completely sure of the answer, I often respond by saying 'I believe so'. Believing in god means that you think he exists, knowing he exists is another thing - and if you claim to KNOW that he exists then I can say, with complete conviction, that you are a fuck-wit. Your heads have been in the clouds for too long now, time to get down to Earth and live this life you're in, not some fictitious one.

LOGIC IN RELIGION?

ONLY GOD CAN CREATE, EVEN SCIENCE CANNOT CREATE, AND THEY WILL NEVER WILL
(BRING SOMETHING FROM NON-EXISTANCE, TO EXISTANCE.) NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!!!!
CHECK YOUR RELIGIOUS SOURCES.
Only God brings things into exsistance, from non-exsitance
DO YOU FOLLOW RELIGIONG BLINDELY AND STUPID, USE UR OWN LOGIC BRAIN, DON'T LET NO-ONE TELL YOU LIES. TURN OFF THE NEWSSSS AND REAAAAAAADDDDDDDD

Do you know how God looks? I do.

God is not like his creations, He has no body, contains no space, no color, and is not big or small.
ANYTHING YOU IMAGINE IN YOUR MIND, GOD IS DIFFERENT THAN THAT.
I think political leaders hide behind the false image of religion. What makes bush a christian or not? Does he have to believe in a specific thing? Well i know Bin laden is not muslim 100%.

MOST powerfull people these days are more wicked than you think. They might claim a religion, but are they really apart of it?

Islamic Jihad is not what you read. This holy war only implies to the enemies soldiers, if a valid reason. No children, or no wifes. Only soldiers.

First of all let me explain something to all you people.
U never heard the truth about islam? Yea sorry to tell you people. How could any of you not found the correct message of religion? You people think all religions are similar and wrong. I will agree with you to a certain point. But there is one religion that is correct, and supported by logic proof, and different than you think. Let's see....God created the human brain....Why did he create it....answer is simple-----to think logically!!!!

First of all 70% of all muslims are not really muslims. There is 3 ways to get out of islam. Sayings, belief, and actions. Anything that belittles God, his messangers, his prophets, his angles, his religions, his books, and anything similar.

Not all things you hear, are true. Muslim religion existed before the quran. All prophets were muslim. There were 120,000 prophets on earth, only 4 were arabic. But all spread the same message, there is only 1 God.

There is only 1 major religion that is supported by logic proof in the whole universe. And this religion did not .existed after christianity........but much before. The 1st human on earth, spread the same message, his name is Adam. And the last prophet on earth was Mohammed.

Bin laden is not muslim because in the muslim religion there is a very very very distinction between a real muslim and not. He belives God is in the sky, This belief takes you out of islam immediately. God is not in the sky, its impossible, The sky is not eternal, only God is. God doesn't change, So He exists, as he did, Without a place.

Non-Resemblance to the Creation - "The Creator does not resemble His creatures."This means everysingle thing, God doesnt resemble his creations
He is not a body, a spirt, a color, and He does not even contain space. No scientist can create anything.

God is not like anything. God is perfect. He exists without a place. He does not need oxygen or even a place.
Every single thing exists in a place except God. God has power over all creations through angels.
This includes the weather, the clouds, and anything else.
Scientists know how some things work, but only God knows why.

I steal, I take intoxicants and so on. Sorry to tell you but these intoxicants make me think deep.
Sorry to say but Christians don't have knowledge of God. I am a logical thinker. I will never recieve
Knowledge from a source and not analyize it myself, with my intellectual.

And who created that God if something cannot come from nothing?

Again, your logic does not compute.

This is where, I will tell you my points. First of all, I have information about God. I have logic, and
also i proved to myself there is a God. If logic is our prespective, This is how I found God, and the correct
attributes. This is the most important things, is the attributes of God, they must be known. I know 13 attributes
of God, which proves to myself there is a God, I also love scientific matters also. I am not againts that, But
science cannot explain everything or know everything. Science doesn't know exactly how you are feeling inside. Only yourself
know's. You think there is no difference between poor and rich, good and bad? Why do humans have a conscience? conscience conscience conscience. This for myself is not enough proof therefore I will proceed.
Why did God create the human brain? First of all we all know our brains and intellect is different than animals.I will give you the reason why God created our brain. The simple truth is to Think logically.

The intellectual necessity: This refers to what the mind does not conceive its non-existence, i.e., non-existence does not apply to its self. God is the One Whose Existence is necessary, because the mind does not accept His non-existence, i.e., non-existence does not apply to the Self of God.

The intellectual impossibility: This refers to what the mind does not conceive its existence, i.e., that to which existence does not apply. The existence of a partner with God is an intellectual impossibility, because existence does not apply to it, i.e., the mind does not conceive its existence.

The intellectual possibility: This refers to what the mind conceives its existence at one time and its non-existence at another time. This universe and its contents--among what we can see and what we cannot see--is an intellectual possibility. It is so because the mind conceives its existence after a state of non-existence. This is the state of the entire universe. For example, God made the human being exist after having been non-existent, and then this human being shall be annihilated (Annihilation of humans is by complete death, which is defined as the soul completely departing the body. The souls do not annihilate and some bodies do not decay in the soil.) This is why the human being's existence is among the intellectual possibilities.

1- Existence - believe in the Existence of God. It is an eternal and everlasting attribute. God exists without a beginning, without an ending, and without a place.
2- Oneness - God has no equal. So we say, for example: "God is the Creator and no one is a creator except God". God is One but not as in numbers, because numbers are created. Rather, He is One in that there is no partner with Him.
3- Eternity - there is no beginning to His Existence. His attributes are also eternal. Nothing is eternal except God and His attributes.
4- Everlastingness- God has not end, He doesn't need air or breathing, He will never die, Him and his attributes are everlasting
5- Non-neediness of others - He does not need one to give Him existence because He exists without a beginning. Also, He does not need one to specify Him with Knowledge, instead of ignorance, or other than that among His Attributes, because His attributes exist without a beginning.
6- Non-Resemblance to the Creation - The Creator does not resemble His creatures."
7- Power- God has power over any single thing. God has power over all creations.
8- Will - anything that happens in this life, whether its our decision or not, happens according to the will of God.
We have our own will, but sometimes our will doesn't come through. We intend to do something but it doesn't happen
Gods will always comes true. Destiny
9- Knowledge (al-^Ilm): God is attributed with Knowledge. This is an eternal and everlasting attribute of His Self. God knows eternally about His Self, attributes, and what He creates. Nothing is absent from His Knowledge. He knows everything
No human will ever know everything.
10- Life -Life is an eternal and everlasting attribute of God. The Life of God is not like our life, because our life needs a combination of body and soul; however, the Life of God is His attribute.
11- Hearing - This is an eternal and everlasting attribute of God with which God hears all things that are hearable. There is no difference between what is near to us and what is far from us because God is not in a place. He hears without an ear, without means, and without instruments. His hearing is not subject to weakening nor change because weakness and change are non-befitting to God.
12- Sight - This is an eternal and everlasting attribute of God with which He sees all things that are seeable, without an instrument and without means, color, or distance. He sees the things that are far away from us and those that are near to us without any difference because God is not in a place. His attribute of Sight does not change or develop, because the One whose Self is eternal does not develop or change. God's attributes are eternal and do not develop or change.
13- speech - This is an eternal and everlasting attribute with which God orders, forbids, and informs. It is not a letter nor a sound nor a language., has no start or finish. The Qur'an is expressions of the eternal speech of the Self of God. When we write the word "God" it is an expression of the Self of God. Likewise, the words and sentences of the revealed Books are expressions of the speech of God. The Qur'an is called the speech of God because it is not authored by Prophet Muhammad or Angel Jibril. The Qur'an is also used to mean the eternal speech of the Self of God.

God has attributes that do not resemble the attributes of others.
These are Logically Gods attributes, The only true attributes of God, and they are detailed and make perfect logic sense.
That's why i believe in God.
This is the belief of the muslims, These 13 attributes of God......NOBODY SHOULD EVER GIVE UP ON RELIGION, THERE IS HOPE TO FIND THE CORRECT ONE, LIKE I DID.

^^Yeah I agree, who is to say Science cannot create? Comrade Nefar was nice enough to hit me up and let me know about a program on Nova which I got to watch the other day. Although the program didn’t get too much in depth, the program was about Science and creating life. The scientists, all of them, did not say whether it was a matter of IF it could be done or not, it’s a matter of when. We can currently create DNA, which are the “blueprints” to life forms. We can create never seen before combinations of these genes and theoretically create never seen before life-forms. The only obstacle is getting the DNA into a membrane or cell or creating that cell.

What makes life possible, scientists believe, is the natural tendency of atoms to assemble into molecules, and for molecules to assemble into increasingly complicated structures. All of the basic elements of life--the amino acids that make proteins and the nucleotides that make DNA and its sidekick RNA--have been produced in the laboratory from chemicals thought to have been present on primitive Earth: hydrogen, methane, ammonia, formaldehyde, cyanide, thiols and hydrosulfide. Some of these elements are so easy to self-assemble that amino acids are found on meteorites originating at the beginning of the solar system. The Murchison meteorite, for example, contains a wide variety of chemicals, including simple amino acids and fats called lipids. When put in water, lipids spontaneously form bubble-shaped membranes that resemble cells.

^ everything you just said is opinion, besides a couple points about the religious books which is factual real world knowledge.

otherwise i dont agree w/ much of that. none of it can be proven. No one can prove that "science cant create". Sure it can. It creates every second of the day.
Some of it was an opionion about science. But the logic knowledge about religion is not an opionion but a fact. Every single creation has a beginning, except God. Even science has a beginning. Im just letting you know, that everyone always says logic is not included in any religion, But logic is included in 1 religion!!!

Ok creating is not what science does, science only puts together what already is created, to MAKE something new. They cannot create DNA. I am sure they can make DNA, But God is the one who created it first. Everysingle thing is science is using the natural elements of the Earth. And who created the Element table? God did. So I don't think science creates, but it just makes things. Creating is only something God can do. God created the human brain, and everything else. I do appreciate science, I am not anti-science. I like it in soo many ways, But science can only go so far, and do not answer the questions Why something was created. Science might know how to make DNA but God knows how to create DNA and the reason behind its existance.

MY RELIGION ASPECTS OF THE BELIEFS ARE FACTS. THIS IS THE ONLY FACT IN MY REPLY. FACTS, FACTS FACTS, OF THE RELIGION. OTHER PEOPLE GOT THEIR FACTS WRONG. How did God communicate to humans? THROUGH PROPHETS. This is how i recieved the fact of the muslim belief. Prophets told people, they told someone so on. There is many people who do not recieve the true message after numerous years of telling stories. So the truth of islam will always be supported by logic proof (fact)

In my religion it says that water was the first creation ever. No water = No life.
Only a humans logic can prove that God exists. And you people wanted logic? I gave you Logic!!!
