What's up Yay Area? Flip and Company Films is shooting an urban comedy in late April in Fairfield, CA called THE YA-DA-DA MOVIE...
We are looking for extras, people who own scrapers, and just about any fans of the Bay Area and Bay Area rap. This is not a movie focused on the "hyphy movement" however it is a film that takes place in the Bay during the "hyphy movement" so it will definitely prominently feature people from all walks of life.
If you or if you've got friends that act, want to act or just wouldn't mind showing up in a movie then you should contact us at [email protected]
We are also looking for females for all types of roles.
So far Yukmouth, Nump and Dem Hoodstarz (Scoot and Band Aid) are confirmed for roles that were written just for them and we are approaching a few well known urban actors and some more of your favorite rappers. Paul Wall will also be making a cameo appearance.
There will aslo be rim giveaways, clothing, and we will giveaway a scraper to someone after the DVD comes out. It will be available on DVD and UMD (for the Song PSP) through Image Entertainment (home to BEEF, 2Pac Thug Angel etc.) and it will also be screened throughout the Bay Area.
It will be shot on SONY HD F900 (same camera George Lucas, and Robert Rodriguez use) so it will be great for the Bay...
Just so you know it's not no bullshit, we just completed WANNABES starring Noel G (dude from Training Day, Bruce Almighty and Fast and The Furious), Guerilla Black and Playa Rae.
We are also working on Streiht Up Menace with MC Eiht in late Summer...the sequel to Menace II Society.
MORE UPDATES COMING SOON!!!
Overview:
The “Ya-Da-Da” Movie is right on time for the “Hyphy Movement” that took off in 2004 and is going to explode in 2006 from the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area across the country. Rap artists like Bay Area godfather E-40 and the late great Mac Dre along with trendsetters like rap legend Yukmouth and Keak Da Sneak and up and comers like Mistah FAB and Turf Talk are setting the business on fire with their unique brand of hip-hop that goes beyond music and into a lifestyle and culture that has made “hyphy” and "thizz" the thing to be. Multi-platinum super producer Rick Rock and his group Federation made the term “Hyphy” famous with their hit single and video of the same name in 2004 that coincidentally featured E-40. Now in 2006, E-40 has joined forces with super producer Lil Jon’s BME/Warner Bros. to release his hit single “Tell Me When To Go” (which celebrates the Hyphy Movement) which is burning up airwaves and video stations across the country.
Synopsis:
Dreads, gold grills, scrapers, and white tee’s are abundant in the “hyphy” movement. In a small town called Fairfield, California (near Vallejo in the Bay Area), “Hyphy Records” is making a killing off of selling gold grills, music, t-shirts and anything else they can sell to the youth of the “hyphy” generation. The owner of “Hyphy Records” is a well known rap producer that rarely visits the store and relies on his staff to take care of the day to day operations.
The "Ya-Da-Da” Movie (from a saying in Northern California, “Yadadimeen / Yadadimsayin'?", a phrase popularized by Keak Da Sneak and other rappers meaning "You know what I mean?" and "You know what I'm sayin'?"), is an independent feature film that finds our cast living through a weekend working at this inner city record store and all the hi-jinx that go along with it. Gold diggers, police raids, barbecue’s, sideshows and a robbery are just a few of the mis-adventures that befall our heroes and villains in this light hearted urban comedy.
