For now, yes. It's probably not likely that they'd make a trade this early.

I think it's fair I resurrect this thread. The A-Team straight killin' it right now. After we sweep Texas again we'll have a 10.5 game lead on everyone. And I guarantee Anaheim will have passed the White Sox as the team with the best record in the AL by the All-Star Break.

We have the AL West on lock.

Texas fans are humble.

A's fans will admit their team is crap, even though they have been hot lately.

Mariner fans still dont see that they are not a threat in the AL West. I told all the Mariner fans on this board that their aquisitions on the off-season were nothing. Then I also got the "its just a pre-season record" when they were what, 1-8.
Now it will probably be "We are only half way into the season".

Angel fans know we will be in the playoffs.

Yeah, I'm sure being hot lately is just a fluke and has nothing to do with the fact that they finally have guys like Bobby Crosby and Rich Harden back.

A lot can happen in half a season.

June 29, 2005:

Texas 38	37	.507	8.5
Oakland 36	40	.474	11
Seattle 33	42	.440	13.5
June 29, 2001:
Code:
		W	L	Pct.	GB
Seattle 56	21	.727	--
Anaheim 38	39	.494	18
Oakland 37	40	.481	19
Texas 30	47	.390	26
End of 2001:
Code:
		W	L	Pct.	GB
Seattle 116	46	.716 -
Oakland 102	60	.630	14.0
Anaheim 75	87	.463	41.0

What the hell? Oakland only gained 5 games on Seattle in 2001. If they did that again this season we'd still beat them out by 8 games. How was that helping your case?
They had almost the exact same record on the exact same date but won 100+ games in the end.

And the Angels aren't winning 116 games.

Haha. You neglect to take into account that their roster back then was MUCH better than it is now. Just like I've been saying all year long, Oakland won't win more than 80 games. And at the rate Anaheim is going they could easily win 100.

Game over :devious:

Yeah they were a lot better with Tejada who only hit .260 with 12 home runs during their post-All Star run... Or Johnny Damon who hit about .250 on the season and threw like a girl...

They're a deadline deal or two away from having a pretty similar team.

The Angels aren't that good to get that comfortable. Texas is still in it.
Pino said:
this team is much more balanced than years' past. The power might not be there, but overall its slightly better. The pitching couldnt do shit in the playoffs and Tejada sucked also. We probably wont make the playoffs this year, but in the long run its better
The 2006/2007/2008/2009 teams will be better than 2000/2001/2002/2003.

The A's getting a good fielder and hitter, plus another pitcher back doesn't have THAT much to do with their streak. Good players are on the DL all the time. Right now Anaheim is missing Cabrerra, Finley, and Escobar (our ace)..and we are still smashing teams.

Yes, Los Angeles Angels Of Anaheim sounds ridiculous...but its still the same team. There is nothng I can do about the name change, except for wear my away Anaheim jersey to the games.

Texas is still in it yes, but Anaheim is going to have to slump and Texas is going to have to go on a streak in order for them to be a serious threat. As of right now, I consider the A's being more of a threat...even though they are behind by double digits.

I would tend to agree, but in this case just about everyone on the team credits a lot of their recent success to having Bobby Crosby back in the lineup.

Blez: You alluded to this earlier. The offense seemed to awaken when Bobby Crosby came back. Do you attribute that to coincidence or does he bring something intangible to this group?

Billy Beane: He is such a critical link. He's right-handed. And we tend to be left-handed heavy. He provides much more depth to the lineup, so I don't think it's coincidence at all. Marco (Scutaro) has done a spectacular job filling in for him and filling in for two guys the last two years. But Croz is such a critical link to that lineup. His presence pushes everyone else down and he's right-handed protection in front of, or behind at some point, Chavy. So I don't think it's a coincidence at all.

With the way the Yankees are going, and the problems Baltimore and Minnesota are having, the Wild Card could come out of the West...

I think there are a lot of teams that are close but the A's are only like 6 back for the WC right now.

The Mariners also need Ichiro to start hitting again.

Supposedly the Yankees have given up on trying to get Mark Kotsay and want Randy Winn. I don't know that they have anyone the Mariners want though.

The rest of our season looks fairly easy. Our toughest teams to face are Boston and Baltimore (outside of the AL West). We shouldnt have a major problem winning the series in the rest.

Oakland is making me nervous. I wont be surprised in they are only 2 or 3 games behind Anaheim in a month from now.

Even though we got shooped by Texas today, I have a list of excuses for that (3 of our rookies pitchers pitching, couple key player on DL, etc.) I just dont feel Texas to be the threat to Anahiem in the AL West. They will finish in third. They are too inconsistent and their bullpen is weak.

dont count out the A;s.....7 straight (it should be 10, but they lost that BS game to the mariners in the 12th)

if the angels hit a little cold streak the race will be VERY interresting...

and remeber theres ALOT of baseball left...

Especially now that they'll miss Rogers for essentially the whole month of July.

they'll pay 95% of his contract and practically give him up for free. I dont want to lose Kotsay, but it looks like he's gone
The Mariners would never do that.

Kotsay is probably 50-50 right now. The money is right on both sides, the A's don't want to give him a no trade clause though... But both Beane and Kotsay has said there are ways around it and they're still talking. I think he'll get an extension... He's not asking for much and they can afford it with Durazo/Dotel's salary being off the payroll.

For that shit he did he should have been gone the whole year.

A's are 22-8 since the return of Bobby Crosby, and 9-1 since the return of Rich Harden (17.1 IP, 7 hits, 3 walks, 1 earned run.)
