It is an inevitability after the jake Shields fight.

But Silva has a big height / size advantage and a 1.5 in reach on GSP.

At 185, I think ive heard he walks around at like 220.

GSP on the other hand is around 190 in the off season and hes already pretty cut. I dont see him gaining that much strength / size in fighting at 185.

I think its gonna end by a brutal Silva KO. The only way I could see GSP having a shot is wrasslin the whole time, and maybe a decision.

The longer hes on his feet, though, the more danger he's in.

St Pierre has a better chance than anyone else at MW. At least he has the balls to move up. Silva has been cutting 30+ to pick on shorter people. Pack on some muscle and take on any top 5 at LHW and watch him get smashed on.

The guy is 6'2.
Taller than the HW champ.

Eat some food...

biased analogy. if gsp (like he always does) put silva in a ground-n-pound position, theres NO WAY FUCKING WAY silva will escape it.
Thiago Alves stood up repeatedly against GSP. GSP has him puzzled by mixing up with takedowns with solid striking but why wouldn't a much bigger Anderson Silva be able to get up from GSP's top game when Alves was able to get up so many times over the course of 5 rounds?

i didnt see the fight. im guessing, due to built, alves could pop up easily cuz his built is low gravity. like they say "the bigger they are, the harder they fall." silva has some long ass limbs, you cant expect him to get his foot on the mat where his thighs could be easily manipulated.

this is an epic fight would u rather see GSP out-grapple every next opponent or see silva dominate every next contender that don't deserve a shot but rather be given the chance because there is no one else? this is to MMA what Pacquiao and Mayweather would have been

The thing is he doesn't have the balls to move up. He's been making nothing but excuses in all the latest interviews saying stuff like "I don't know if I want to move up", "I need more time to put on weight", etc.

Anderson moved up to 205 and whooped ass. Come on GSP! Don't be scared homie!!

6'2 isn't even that tall man. Bernard Hopkins, Kelly Pavlik, jermain taylor, these guys are all 6'1 and 160 pound fighters in boxing. Paul Williams is 6'2 and fights between 147-160.

Height doesn't mean shit, it's about your body structure. Sure Silva could add weight but does that mean he loses speed, mobility, etc.? You have to know your own body and it's limitations.

Just sayin.

I WAS THINKING THE SAME SHIT...AND ANDERSON IS SO LANKY, GSP'S TAKEDOWNS WILL GET STUFFED ALOT EASIER...SONNENS TAKEDOWNS ARE PROBABLY THE TOUGHEST ANDERSON WILL HAVE EVER FACED.

Height has a lot to do with it.
It's a lot easier to pack on good weight when you are 6'2 as opposed to 5'10.
Every single medical chart and BMI comparison takes your height into consideration when calculating what you should weigh. The taller you are, the more you can weigh.

Tall persons frame
= Larger bones
= More distance between joint and insertion point of muscle
= Better leverage
= Stronger
= Larger ROM (Range of Motion)

I was just talking about gaining weight and it's sides, but it would effect speed as well.
People are bashing GSP for not moving up, but in all reality it should be Silva who should should be moving up. Expecting someone who is 5'10 to go up 15 pounds is not very realistic.

GSP is already built at 170.
Silva is a twig at 185.

GSP with 15 pounds of mass is a serious bulk.
Let alone the stamina issues he will have with a bulk like that.
He would gas a lot quicker and in the end it would effect his speed (muscles take up more oxygen).

If it's so easy then Silva should move up and fight Shogun, Machida, or Rampage. No one is asking him to do that. He's fine just towering people at 6'2.

Towering? Who exactly has he towered over? You act like he's Semmy Schilt.

Rich Franklin 6'1
Forrest Griffin 6'3
Chael Sonnen 6'1
Vitor Belfort 6'0
Thales Leites 6'1
Damien Maia 6'0
Travis Lutter 6'2
Nate Marquart 6'0

Shortest guy he's fought lately was Patrick Cote who stands at 5'11. Let's face it: GSP is a athlete, not a fighter. Ask BJ if he would go up to middleweight to fight Anderson Silva and he wouldn't think twice.

Hmm, you're right.
He just seems so much taller in there. Maybe it's his stance, I don't know.
I guess he is only an inch or two taller than everyone else.

I'm sure the UFC and the media will put enough pressure on GSP to move up and fight Silva. They should give him at least 6 months after his next fight to pack on that kind of weight.
