A few reasons why Bay Area Rap is doin Bad right now...

Well.. I dont know where to put that...All I know is we have a problem... Mr Reid, you of all people should know what Im speaking about here...I'd like to hear your input on the state of the bay area rap scene and hip hop in general sir. We have took a major dip and illegal downloading is just 10-15% of the problem. I would be glad to explain my figures...and why many download. I recently did a questionaire where I asked over 6,000 people if and why they download music illegally or purchase a bootleg album and the answers I received didnt surprise me one bit. another survey was done at the staples center by a close friend. same figures.
.O.K. - maybe I'm not the only one, but I'm not really understanding your post. Don't get me wrong, you may be on point, but I think you may need to further explain what you mean... I think If you read your post again you'll see what I mean...
Anywayz... here's the key... you have to understand that there are only really two routes to take. You can either make tracks for the street and make your attempt at being the peoples champion (independent), or make music that sounds like what you hear on the radio (major). At this point there's really no grey area. You just have to ask yourself what you're really in it for. See, radio has a format. They cultivate this format to attract advertisers. No if, ands, or buts about it. Point Blank? Radio stations are businesses whether you believe it or not. They run off of advertising dollars, so no matter how much you bitch and moan about Bay Area radio not playing Bay rappers, the reality is that they are gonna play the format that generates the most advertising dollars. PERIOD! It's not personal , its only business. It's kinda like bein' mad at All Davis for the way he runs the Raiders. In your eyes he may be a piece of shit, but in his eyes he's only making decisions that make fiscal sense. There is no emotion in business. You make decisions based on the bottom line. You're either in the red or you're in the black. There's no two ways about it. This is not a game or a hobby. It actually feeds families. So the next time you find yourself in a position to make decisions on your career, you can either treat it like the business it is, or realize that in your true heart of hearts it's only a hobby to you... If this is the case then stop clogging the market with product and advertisements and marketing. Just rap. Ain't no shame in rappin' as a hobby. Just stay out of the way of those who take it way too seriously and are attempting to make a career of it...

1.its not about how many posters etc... its about getting paid, it doesn't matter if you have 100,000 myspace plays or fliers all over america, if you dont have a lot more money in your pocket than what you invested, you are not hustling
2.Play your position, do you think that Sprint C.E.O's wake up in the middle of the evening and waste their time doing pointless shit? .. of course i've never met a sprint C.E.O. , but a C.E.O of a company usually gets off his ass and gets shit done
3. stop ripping people off, its not nice and it doesn't benefit you and your associates
you will loose your network, and those people will tell 12 more of how much of a cheap bastard you are,
LOYALTY is important, even when it hurts
stay away from self help books and pop shit about 48 laws of power etc...
making money off of people trying to get rich is a huge business, dont believe the hype

Second.... It's not "apples and oranges", maybe you're just too tired to grasp it at this moment. Try again in the morning. It's a perfect analogy.

on some real stuff if tha bay stop hatin on tha bay like tha first post i seen talkin bout e pills and all that shit, man quit it . E pills and everything else been here since. its jus all about makin real music . I listen to mess , then I listen to other bay area artist with Rick Rock beats .
