If we make the playoffs the best draft pick we can have is #21. To me thats fine because I dont think we should take a QB in the first round and whose to say that we wont make a move to jump up given a situation. Even at 21 QB is pretty deep in the draft this year I think we get value there. I have always been impressed by how the niners draft with the exception of three players. Alex Smith, Kwame Harris, and Mike Rumph so i know we can get talent.

How many players on this team have even been the playoffs? Even if we make it and host the Saints I think its something the franchise needs with a team that is so young, not to mention we need to set the pace in the NFC West How tired are you of arguing with Hawk and Az fans, jesus christ its fuckin depressing, the rams fans are fine with me because we have always gone at it but when I was a kid I didnt even think twice about the seahawks or the cardinals. Anyway we make the playoffs book some more MNF games for next year and move on. If we do make the playoffs i think thats god damm impressive doin it without our starting LT, C, RB.

The real problem to me is that we cant draft a coach, cuz on one hand I want to keep Sing for some god damm consistency but at the same time he got exposed this year and I dont want to see another year of thos press conferences.

There is alot of talent on this team and the real question is do we clean house on the coaching staff

Maybe the team with the worst record in the playoffs but not the worst team in the playoffs in terms of skill. They got the rams next and I can see them beating the rams to take the top spot for the playoffs...So they might as well go for it..

There are a lot of opinions going on in here on what 49ers should do in the upcoming games. It's time to get a Poll on opinions.

Should the 9ers tank the season and go for the high draft pick? Or keep fighting and win the division to go to the playoffs?
It's too late to tank the season. We already have too many wins. The only reason to tank was the possibility of landing Andrew Luck. We already have more wins than Carolina or Arizona will get, and both of them would take Luck in a heartbeat. Our front office doesn't have the balls to make the proper moves to land him at this point.

The only reason for any real fan to want them to tank at this point is to ensure Dingleberry and Alex Smith are gone next year. However, I think they'll both be gone even if we make the playoffs with a shitty record.

I don't know any team that has made it to the playoffs with a 7-9 record...
that's exactly my fucking point! it's never been done... therefore it would be an all-time low

So if the raiders ended with a 7-9 record and they were going to the playoffs, would they be the worst team?
yes... they would

I bet you raider fans would be singing a different tune.....
I wouldn't be singing shit differently... don't assume that

Anyone who wants a high draft pick is fucking retarded. Maybe you can spend $100 million on Jamarcus Russell and DHB. Or maybe you can spend $150 million on Mike Williams and Roy Williams. Or maybe you guys can tank so bad that you can get a savior at QB in the first round....like Alex Smith. And make sure that you overpay so that when a legit player comes along you have no salary cap space to sign him.

Seriously - high draft picks KILL your team. They suck money out of the franchise for an unproven player on an obviously shitty team who probably won't even develop until his contract is up and hes playing as a free agent somewhere else.

Look at teams like the Patriots who get cheap players with the 30-32 pick of the draft every year. That's the formula to win.

Anyone who thinks that their team should tank the season to get a high draft pick doesn't deserve to watch football.

this is true somewhat... but if you can get a huge impact player (especially a franchise QB) with an early pick it's worth it

look at Matt Ryan and Sam Bradford... you think those picks killed their teams?

I know the Niners are out of the running for the number one overall pick... so it's not specific to this situation... but if you can get Andrew Luck it's gonna do wonders for your team

MAYBE Andrew Luck will do wonders. As far as I'm concerned, no one can predict that. Not most front offices, not a Wonderlic, not Mel Kiper. Sam Bradford and Matt Ryan are good examples, but there are way more misses than hits. Plus, if your team is picking a top draft pick, there's a chance that your front office can't evaluate talent anyways and there's a reason you keep picking #1.

All I know is that if draft pick mattered, the Lions would be 16-0 and the Patriots would be 1-15 right now. I think picking high kills your salary cap cuz you're throwing money at unproven players. I can't justify wanting your own team to lose so that you can pick up a player that could just as easily be horrible as good.

Let me know when Reggie Bush wins the rushing title and then I might buy into Luck..

Seems the other way around for us, 1-16 have been pretty good slots for us 17-32 not so great. lets take a look

Bad Players in Red, Good Players in Green

Since 2000
2000
1 16 Julian Peterson
1 24 Ahmed Plummer

2001
1 7 Andre Carter

2002
1 27 Mike Rumph

2003
1 26 Kwame Harris

2004
1 31 Rashaun Woods

2005
1 1 Alex Smith

2006
1 6 Vernon Davis
1 22 Manny Lawson (Manny gets a red because he was drafted to be a pass rusher, and cant rush for shit)

2007
1 11 Patrick Willis
1 28 Joe Staley

2008
1 29 Kentwan Balmer

Im leaving out 09 and 10 drafts, not enuff time to judge, but take a look @ that, our drafts are the opposite of what youre saying With Alex Smith and Staley being the 2 exceptions of where they were drafted
