As we reported earlier tonight, UNLVTickets.com is advertising former WWE Champion Batista for WWE's 2/16 event in Las Vegas, NV, and according to PWInsider.com, sources within WWE have confirmed that Batista will indeed be returning to WWE and the advertisement is not a mistake.

The ticketing website released the promo for Batista's return prematurely, and spoiled WWE's planned surprise, which could be that the former Champ is returning at The Royal Rumble.

We exclusively reported back in July of this year*that Batista has been in talks with Triple H about a potential return to the company, as the wrestler-turned-actor does want to have one more run with WWE.

Furthermore, WZ spoke with a source in WWE this evening and we were told*it's likely we will see promos begin to run promoting the return of Batista to WWE in the coming weeks.

It's being said that*Batista will likely work with WWE until he is called to do promotional work for his upcoming movie*Guardians of the Galaxy, which will be released in August of 2014.

I have a love/hate relationship with the whole Cena character.

At one end, he's a tremendous role model for kids, and on the other end, I find him unlikeable on the mic most of the time and a stale character that has undergone zero changes since he gave up his whole "Bionic Man" routine on the indy circuit.

Batista’s Return to the WWE, Date Revealed

Josh Isenberg

December 23, 2013

It was announced, via a video package, that Batista will return to the WWE on January 20th. He will be live from the Wright State University's Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio for WWE Raw. He was last seen on WWE programming on May 24th, 2010 when he "quit" WWE while being in a wheelchair from various injuries the previous night facing John Cena.

Today, I talk about the rumors and reality of a*Batista WWE return. The following is an excerpt:

I expect WWE to promote his return similar to how it did with Rob Van Dam in July. There is no point, especially with the rumor of his return being public, of having Batista make his return at in a surprise situation.
If the people don't know he's going to be there, you can't make money off it. Advertise he's returning at Royal Rumble or the night after.

It was the same situation when Kevin Nash returned at the Royal Rumble in 2011. He was just hours removed from getting out of his TNA contract. WWE wanted him to return as Diesel. His philosophy was he can't help the buys of the pay-per-view if people aren't thinking or expecting him. Needless to say, with cameras following us, Nash and I had a fun video conversation in the Boston airport that went viral. It provided the exact buzz he wanted and the pay-per-view made good money.

Batista will get a babyface reaction as anyone does when they make a return. That needs to quickly be done away with if not the night he returns, then shortly thereafter. Batista NEEDS to be a heel.
WWE has a good pool of babyfaces: John Cena, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Big E. Langston, Big Show, Rey Mysterio, Cody Rhodes, Goldust, Xavier Woods. It lacks credible heels, and Batista is credible.
Batista shouldn't be put in any novelty match at WrestleMania with another part-time talent or an established main event name. He needs to work with a younger babyface.

Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler come to mind. I could see WWE's logic of Sheamus, who is expected to return also around Rumble, needing to regain relevancy as he's been out since the summer with injury. He and Batista would be a physical match. However, I don't know how many fans will buy into it, and I think Sheamus is a babyface they don't need. Turn him back to heel as the big, tough, nasty Irish fighter.
Ziggler would have a fantastic match with Batista. With Batista's power, combined with Ziggler's athletic ability and art of being able to sell, would make an entertaining contest. Anything with Ziggler mentioned in it has to be taken with heavy consideration as he seems to have fallen out of favor with the decision makers. WWE isn't going to put

Batista against anyone it doesn't care about.

Bryan, Punk and Cena are all guys who don't need an opponent such as Batista. Plus, I think all of them will be occupied with other booking plans for WrestleMania.
I don't think this run is just for WrestleMania. I think it will be similar to Chris Jericho two years ago. Come back in January and hang around until SummerSlam. This could allow for some time to put Batista up against an established name, but not at WrestleMania. Make a new star at WrestleMania. Batista versus a Bryan or Punk could be beneficial after WrestleMania to headline a May or June pay-per-view.
Batista has to be the heel he was in 2010 as he finished up with WWE before leaving. It was his most successful heel run in a feud with John Cena. The white hat, the glasses, the dress clothes. He had a swagger of obnoxiousness to him. It was as if he was dressing up and portraying Kanye West.

How about Titus O'Neil for an opponent?

I don't think he's coming back to face Titus O'Neil, Ziggler and shit... he lashed out at Del Rio on Twitter with some stuff like " who the fuck is Alberto Del Rio.... Seems 2 me that some C level stars in a B level star era have bought into their own hype. Don't turn a work into a shoot. #realitycheck"

Batista is main eventing for the title at Wrestlemania, calling it now

Keen on reliving the Tommy Dreamer and Raven feud from ECW in its entirety? Fancy looking back at the war for Monday night between Raw and Nitro? Enter: WWE Network, the WWE's subscription-based network for the US full of original programming and archived WWE, WCW and ECW pay-per-view events.

WWE Network will cost $10 a month when it launches next month, with apps planned for both PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Streaming will be in 720p and a subscription will guarantee you access to WWE's monthly pay-per-view events. Wrestlemania Rewind, part of the planned original programming to supplement the older matches, will offer wrestler commentary over famous matches of yesteryear, while Countdown will be an hour-long program ranking top finishers, submissions and other sweet wrasslin' moves.

WWE Network will be available in the US on PC, PlayStation consoles, iOS, Android, Kindle, Xbox 360 and Roku at launch, after Monday Night Raw on February 24th. Xbox One and smart TV support will be added later this summer, and WWE says it has plans to extend WWE Network to other regions by the end of the year.
