Z-Man
Interview by: Vanessa Cavallaro
Photos by: Uno

Reppin’: San Francisco, CA
Label: Unsigned

Z-Man appears to be the new Renaissance man of the hip hop culture. Not only is he handling no less than four new albums, he seems to be on the doorstep of a thriving art career and a book on the way, centered on the matter of dreadlock culture and hygiene. Seems as if he isn’t on the pulse of hip hop culture, he is the pulse. Concerning his music, Z-Man is juggling the recording and releasing of many albums and gaining a lot of needed focus. Among future releases with Equipto, and Sacred Hoop, he is also releasing In Case You Forgot, a follow up to 2005’s Don’t Forget To Brag. His collaborator from Brag, G-Pek, is also working with him on 2 Cups Of Spit, a follow-up to Dope Or Dog Food. Z is also working with Rhythm X and J Wells on California Brainwashed, an album which will hopefully “talk to young kids at a real level,” says Z. Z feels his performances are “pretty much improv.” He states “I feel like I’m talking to everybody. I’m not leaving anyone out. Conversating and entertaining. That’s the main shit.”
