On dubcnn.com Nima posted a acticle on yukmouth on showcase magazine, heres what he had to say:

In the latest issue of Showcase Magazine, they have an article on Yukmouth, and he has a lot to say. Most noteably, Yuk expressed his feelings on the so-called "New Bay" movement.

"I feel it ain't no New bay without the muhfuckas that put the Bay on the map first. If you ain't got these niggas [as] a part of your click then you can't be a New Bay...How 'bout [calling yourselves] some new hot rappers from the Bay? It's like they dissin' us, it's like you sayin', 'aaw you wack. Now we the new shit.'"

Yuk also said:

"Be on some real shit, don't be on no cocky shit 'cuz you asking for it and you dont want it from Yuk 'cuz I diss any of you niggas at anytime...I will murder all you niggas. If you go on MTV and don't win, you definitely ain't gon' win in the streets, nigga. If you won that MTV shit you still couldn't say you was the New Bay. The Bay is based on cocaine, it's the city of dope not the city of backpack rappers, you feel me? So get some gangsta in ya ass then you could talk some shit but if you're backpack rappin' you in Berkeley on Telegraph and shit, you could never say you the New Bay man."

Looks bad for the "New Bay" boys. They're barely emerging and now they got Yuk on their back. Hopefully this is just a warning, and the Thug Lord doesn't decide to war with Locksmith, Balance and co...

i see points for both sides....what it all boils down to is people getting their feelings hurt, and getting defensive....fuck dividing the bay, we struggling enough as it is, we need to band together, not fight amoungst ourselves

I personally think NEW BAY is another lost war cry. I know exactly why the new bay cats aren't succeeding...all the answers were in Los Angeles this past weekend. We went out there, hit up the conference, hit up Sunset Saturday night, went cruisin' and what not...and the locals showed us whats up with this rap shit...it's called APPRECIATION...GAME RECOGNIZE GAME!! The Bay doesn't appreciate anything DIFFERENT, and nobody can tell me I'm wrong cause I know in the bay if it ain't mobbed out or talkin bout bangin and shit, it won't fly, at least not for long.

Stuck in traffic on Sunset, giving demo CD's to EVERYBODY that pulled up next to us...what happened? They put that shit in the CD player immediately...they'd pull up again and be like, "THIS SHIT IS FUCKIN SICK"...we ended up getting invited to perform once a week at a club out there. That shit don't fuckin happen in the Bay, and if it does some shit pops off.

I personally think a lot of cats in the bay need to get with the program and start merging with other cats instead of blaming the industry for their failures, past and present. I understand the bay has it's own style, it's own feel...but Bay cats only wanna stick with their own and not expand their horizons, and make shit better for themselves....

this is just my opinion. I agree with Yuk...I wanna see cats succeed but they never will as long as they come up with a new war cry every year talkin about how they are hated on, and how this NEW GROUP of cats is gonna blow the bay up...it won't happen with the ignorance and shit going on out there in the Bay!!

I know that Balance meant no disrespect with the term "New Bay". Balance has the upmost respect for the foundations of Bay rap, Too-Short, Cougnut, RBL, Quinn, Luniz, etc. and does a LOT to help Bay Area sales through his 9-5 job. Even though I LOVE the old school killin and dope dealin raps of the Bay, we all know that the days of profiting off that music is long gone. Balance and Locksmith are putting together a new style and I hope it works for them - shit, whens the last time youve seen ANYONE from the Bay on MTV for ANY reason??
