There are also a number of albums I'm waiting to hear that still haven't been leaked/released so I'm sure my top 10 will be switching around a bunch although I don't think anything this year will take that Battles album out of the number one spot. You never know though.

Mirrored is one of the best albums I've heard in I don't know, a really long time. It's really so different from anything I've ever heard too. I couldn't even tell you who/what it sounds like because it doesn't sound like anybody else out there.

It's weird as fuck but in a really really good type of way.

Battles - Atlas (the song is like 7 minutes long on the album)

I think the best way to describe the sound of the band/album is to quote part of their review from The Stranger (local Seattle paper)

Music is finally evolving faster than the humanity that spawns it. It's hard to hear Mirrored and not imagine a massive mainframe in some secret mountain bunker—WarGames' WOPR, perhaps—spiraling out these clanging melodies and arithmetic rhythms as the codex to an impossible equation. At least at first listen; repeat visits reveal deeply embedded patterns and discrete movements, a superliminal fractal logic that twists these man-machine compositions into more than the sum of their parts.
The first time I listened to the album I thought it was really good, after a couple more listens I was hooked and now think it's one of the best albums released in years. It's getting a lot of critical acclaim too which I find odd seeing it's such a different kind of sound than the norm.

Okay enough of me being a fanboy like RJ, back on track.

It's because you're a mainstream hipster Jesse lol :cheeky:

No but really I've noticed you don't care much for experimental music so I figured you wouldn't like it. That song and album is amazing though...IMO.

Damn...see I forgot all about the new Psyopus. That album is amazing. Both those Mono and Grail's albums are really good too.

I still need to check out the new Sun O))), haven't gotten around to it yet.
