I hope prop 8 doesnt pass. its nobodys business who's getting married.
Apparently, its 55% of the voters business and the majority it seems on here.

Never in my life have i seen so many people so concerned about what gay people do. That, in itself, is gay.

Mind your business and let people do what they do...if it doesnt affect you, who gives a shit? This is the same Siccness crowd that is against snitching, which would be basically medalling in peoples business...but want gay unions outlawed. Unless you are gay, from my recollection, it DOES NOT CONCERN YOU.

More reason that this countries' values are complete ass backwards.

Co-sign. Just remember interracial marriage used to be illegal in this country. Colored people had to drink out of different water fountains and couldn't eat in certain restaurants.
Gay marriage isn't even in the same ball park as segregation and civil rights.

Prop 8 has nothing to do with RIGHTS! Gay folks already have the same "rights" as married folks. In fact, when it comes down to certain things like adoption, gay people have a little more strength.

You must not really mean that.

You and I both could give mulitple situations where someone is doing something that doesn't affect you but is still of concern to you.

If we agree that everyone is concerned about things that don't affect them, then we are really arguing a very subjective issue and drawing distinctions on an individuals rights to decide what is and isn't of concern for a particular person.

You need to be respectable to straight people too, A lot of straight people who get married look at is a bond that joins two families to create another family.

If gays want something just like marriage under a different name they can have it, whats the big deal? Gays arent just asking to change the law they are asking to change millions of peoples religeous and personal opinions as well.

Marriage has always been for a man and a woman and most straight people feel that's how it should be. Gay people have the right to have the same LEGAL rights but you can just up and change the meaning of marriage.

Exactly

look up the definition of marriage... it clearly states that it is between a man and a woman...

we're supposed to just change the definition???

marriage is for straight people... the gays can have something else... let em have some kind of civil union.... but not marriage

ROFL, to people who don't want gay marriage to be legal, did a gay person once beat you up? Ha, why have that mind state, why do you wanna keep people from doing what they want? How does two gay people (who you don't know and will never know since you hate them so much) effect you? Tell me and don't use religion or children as an excuse.

I 100% do.

You and I both could give mulitple situations where someone is doing something that doesn't affect you but is still of concern to you.
Please give an example and I will let you know.

If we agree that everyone is concerned about things that don't affect them, then we are really arguing a very subjective issue and drawing distinctions on an individuals rights to decide what is and isn't of concern for a particular person.
It is one thing to "concernec" about something, and another to be flat out against it. Many times, people are against an issue...due to RELIGIOUS beliefs, which is an entire different can of worms all together. My problem with all these people obsesses with keeping homosexual down is that they just htink its "gross", or "not in the bible". Ok, that uderstandable, but the level of which they take it makes me wonder where some people's priorities are.

Exactly

Which is a problem within itself. There are alot of old time "values" that Christianity holds that are a) outdated or b) plain retarded to begin with. And doen even get me started on the lack of sepration between chruch and state when it comes to marriage.

we're supposed to just change the definition???
Uhhhh..why not? If the Webster dictionary can instate the word "bling-bling" as an actual English word, then I am sure we can change "man and woman" to "two people".

marriage is for straight people... the gays can have something else... let em have some kind of civil union.... but not marriage
Marriage is a kind of civil union. Marriage is a fuckin joke as it is anyway...as if people actually VALUE marriage as a whole or even abide by their own wedding vows. if that were the case, their would NOT be a HIGH divorce rate in the US. If gays want to suffer through marriage like the rest of us, why should we deny them that?

Uhhh...seeing as prop 8 is designed to take away the RIGHT for homoseuxals to marry, than i would say it has everything to do with RIGHTS.
No, you're wrong. It keeps us from calling it MARRIAGE! That's all it does. Oh, and where in the constitution does it give gay people the RIGHT to marry? In any case, they have civil unions and domestic partnerships, which is almost the same thing, just named differently. They still have all the same LEGAL RIGHTS...even a little more.

Check this, I couldn't get health insurance through my fiance, even though we were living together...we had a DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIP! Kaiser told me they couldn't do it because I wasn't GAY! Being gay has its advantages. I have to actually get married before I get that same benefit. PLUS, I can't benefit from the words DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIP because I'm not gay. So how is this different? Why should they benefit from the word MARRIAGE when it doesn't go the other way for straight folks?

Just because you don't agree with calling a gay union "Marriage" doesn't mean you hate gay people. That's the problem with this country. Somebody doesn't agree with something, and all of a sudden it's HATE! I don't hate gay people, I don't even slightly dislike gay people...I think they're off the hook. I just don't agree with calling it marriage.
