What the fuck do these mafuckas charge more than what you pay per month? I signed up for that $29.99/month plush $14 for shipping the "free" modem but with that shipping price your basically paying for it... but a the phone bill came up to $52 for it, can someone explain? $30 plus $14 ain't no damn $52.

Did you install the modem, of did they do it for you?

Edit:

Best bet though is to call them and ask them why they are charging you additional fees you didnt sign up for. Tell them thats false advertisement and you want your money credited toward your account or your taking them to court haha.

Italic print = joke.

@nasty

In order to get DSL you have to live close to the Phone company whom you want to get it from, where as cable you can live in the boonies in your town and most likely get it. Shit basically, if you can get comcast cable where you live, then you will be able to get the cable internet they provide.

Also if you do live in some boonies where no one else is around, then your speed will be alot higher, than it would be if you were living in a neighborhood. This.. is where cable falters. An area is given a certain amount of speed they can do, downloading and uploading, which is then split among the people who have cable internet in that area. So if some people are constantly downloading at high speeds like 24/7 then your speeds tend to fall off.

Where as DSL has nothing like this. So if they tell you you can do 1MB downloads then you are going to be doing 1MB downloads, and wont worry about sharing bandwith with your neighbors. Due note that 1MB downloads is fairly impossible on DSL and even cable. Just think of DSL as a super fast dial-up line... something you are trying to get away from right?

Some of my info maybe be exaggerated or mis-interpreted. I am listing the things I can remember, but may be a little hazy. If you want to know more about DSL/Cable providers and other terms that belong in this category, then go to www.dslreports.com. They have ALOT of info.

Yea, my first bill was $478.21 for a month of DSL from SBC Yahoo. LOL! :confused:

I called up customer service to ask why and they said it was a computer error. I signed up when it was $26.95/mo. and you get a 100 bucks back in the form of a rebate check. It's OK. You're basically getting ADSL, which is low-grade hi-speed Internet. After all the fees and shit, it's almost $40/mo.

Don't know if I'll be renewing after the annual contract is up.
