Seems like a lot of people on this board would like for Bay Area artists to stand still in a time where the soundscapes are totally changing.

I've always thought that Ya Boy was just a better than average punch line rapper, so I'm glad to see him progress and venture outside of his usual.

I mean, really should he even still be making 'Bay' music ?

Look how far that got him with his first album.

Gotta look at the bigger picture.
No doubt man you are 100% right rappers gotta look at the big picture. But that doesn't mean they should forget where they come from. San Quinn said it himself, YB has forgotten who put him in the game, and has forgotten where he's come from. Yall gon think I'm crazy, but money aint everything. Selling your soul and turning your back on your roots for a buck aint cool.

I ain't saying he should be making "Bay Music," and I'm not saying it's a problem that he's branched out from the Bay. I'm saying that YB needs to stop trying to pass himself off as a fucking LA nigga. Why cant he make music and show love to the Bay at the same time?

I think dude rep for the bay/. I never heard dude once say he was L.A. He made a song about L.A. B.I.G made a song about going to cali. Staq que just made a song about cali. Nobody in there region is tripping on them so why is the bay tripping on this dude.

^^^Look at it from Quinn's perspective. He brings Ya Boy up, YB up outta Fillmoe is poised to be the next big thing out the Bay who is a lyricist. Not up on hyphy, just pure bars. As soon as the nigga gets buzz, Phat Rat moves him to LA, links him up with The Game and Brittney fucking Spears. YB ain't been back to the Bay since. According to Quinn, the nigga is big headed as fuck and has str8 up forgotten who gave him his juice. Just think about how this whole thing looks. YB talking about bringing the Bay back and putting Fillmoe back on the map. The min he gets a name for himself he leaves the Bay for LA.

Quinn and Ya Boy have since talked they are all good . Theres enough unreleased San Quinn & Ya Boy material to do an album together and get a few new joints and big cuzzo might just join Ya Boy in LA that will make people stop look & listen. LA is thirsty for San Quinn the underground cats is asking why he don't come down ? The money ain't right but if Ya Boy share the stage with Quinn it might be the deadly 1-2 punch the Bay could use right now. LA LA big City of Dreams .. Fuck it The Bay is in the Area!!

Why would Quinn go to LA to backtrack his career? When's the last time a rapper from LA blew up? Glasses? Sly Boogy? Gorilla Black? LA ain't nothing special in the music industry. If he wants to be an internet/mixtape rapper, he might as well just stay in SF.

Ya Boy will be eating steak and lobster, smoking exotic types of weed with Dime peices, if he's not already.......While most of us sit back and bullshit on the sicc and go to a bullshit job..........Ya boy got heat, and he's doing something different than making different guns rhyme this time, and that was my beef with him before...........Live life young dude and get your paper......
***News Flash***

MOST of these rappers aren't eating like they claim to be or like some of you think they are. Don't be fooled by the "rap mirage."

Nonsense. Damn near the whole entire industry is in LA. Who cares about what rappers from here are successful. Most artist in the music industry are signed to a label that is either headquartered or has a branch in LA. Add the fact that LA's independent music scene is virtually wide open it definitely wouldn't hurt to relocate out here.

It's a thin line. Yes, Quinn put him on in the Bay, but the question is "Who put him on in the GAME?". I'm talking about, who hooked him with K-Fed & Game? It's like if I put an album out for my boy, and it didn't really move out here...so he packed up and went to L.A., and linked up with a cat that helped him make serious moves. I personally would be like, "I didn't give him everything he needed to be where he needed to be...if I did, I'd be there with him". It's like raising a kid. You can teach them everything under the sun, but in order to be successful in life, they have to step away and make their own connections.

As soon as my name starts poppin', I'd be out too. There's nothing in the Bay for rappers/producers, there just isn't. As soon as folks realize that, we can focus on actually adapting to the times and be factors again. Until then, we're stuck, and that's just a fact. As soon as I say, "I'm from the Bay" on a record, the country stops fuckin' with it. That's just the way it is. Just because it's on KMEL, doesn't mean it's on Power 106...or Hot 97. Which is why, when my boy comes and says, "I think we should send this song to KMEL"...I tell him, "I think we should send this song to L.A.". They show more love to Indie artists that make dope music than the stations up here do.

As an artist and a fan of Quinn, and now of YB...I'd say they both are better off in L.A. Quinn is too tight to be sitting up here not reaching his full potential. I know he probably loves where he's from and where he lives, but he can always come back later if he wants to. There's a lot going on in L.A. that we don't see here in the Bay. Quinn would move units in So. Cal, and the labels would see that because they LOOK down there.

^^^I feel what you saying, but think about what would happen to Bay Area rap if everybody had Ya Boy's, and I guess your attitude. Pack up and leave when you get a little buzz....The main problem I have is that YB predicated his movement on BRINGING THE BAY BACK. But the min he builds some momentum he leaves and doesn't say shit to the people that made him who he was. That is fucked up in any way you look at it.

Obviously Bay Area rappers aren't getting respect mainly because they are from the Bay, but instead of packing up and leaving, why don't niggas try and change that shit. When Air Jordan came to the Bulls them niggas was garbage. Look what he turned them into. Look what LeBron has done with a garbage ass Cleavland franchise. What if they would have packed up and left (easier said than done).....Niggas need to show loyalty IMO.

Well, honestly if you're dope you're dope. Nobody makes anybody if they already have the talent, they just give you an avenue. The people that don't think like Ya Boy, get left in the dust because this here is a cutthroat industry, and you need to do whatever it takes to make it. I'm sorry, but Loyalty doesn't pay the bills, and if somebody is loyal to me they will never question decisions I make to have a better life for my family and I. Loyalty is remembering who helped you along the way and always being true to those people. I'm sure if YB was on Jay Leno tomorrow, San Quinn would get his mention if asked about how he came up. This is just like when folks were pissed off that The Game didn't mention JT or the Bay in his music...but if you sit down and listen to his interviews, he shows mad love to the Bay because this is where he got his start.

I live in San Jose...I was born and raised here. BUT, I don't talk about my city in my music because that would limit me. My city didn't make me who I am, nor did this region...the people around me made me who I am. Should I ever be in this situation, I wouldn't be making songs about my hometown either until I had the name to do so and still be respected as an artist. However, if it came up in an interview or I had to shout folks out, I would let it be known where I came from. Just because you don't praise folks or areas in every song doesn't mean you forgot or you're not loyal.

I was down in L.A. when Hyphy was crackin' up here. Folks were saying, "Hyphy is going to blow the Bay back up...it's all over the radio, people are giggin'", etc. etc. When I was in L.A, nobody was bumpin' that. I ran into quite a few folks and they had asked where I was from. When I told them, they were like, "What's up with that Hyphy rap? What are you guys doing up there?" Praising the Bay on every record at this point is bad for business for somebody trying to establish themselves, simple as that. Look at Lyrics Born....had a nice record, but it was on some other shit. If I blow up, and I don't mention certain folks or my city, they're not going to be all pissed off because the folks that matter know I love 'em, and the folks that pay attention know I love my city. I don't talk about SJ NOW, and folks don't care. I have more important shit to talk about.

^^^I can respect what you're saying. Loyalty doesn't pay the bills, but disloyal niggas always seem to reap what they sew. I'm not saying or wishing anything bad on YB because I'm a fan and I fuck with his music. But karma is a bitch.

Yea. I feel where you're coming from, too. Like I said, there's a thin line. It's hard not to cross it, and it's hard for people to see that you didn't cross it, ya know? I've had a few cats that turned out to have no loyalty whatsoever, and they're stuck now...so I am a firm believer in Karma. I can understand where cats are coming from in regards to YB, but I also understand YB's position as well. It's a bitch...which is why they say that this industry is not for the weak or timid.

Didn't say live there dip through and do some quality shows the same way he dips through other parts of the west.. Seattle to San Diego is the West Coast and if you have that route set you can start moving east towards the Midwest SLC, Denver, OK, and other cities in between than hit the South and then go up and strike the East with some momentum money in pocket and a nationwide buzz ..I was just saying LA gotta get a dose of the Quinn and if his own cousin got some juice out there let the big homey rock..
