Would Ellis really demand a trade....

There have a ton of rumors over the last few weeks concerning potential further drastic punishment that the Warriors could drop on Monta Ellis beyond his 30-game unpaid suspension and the drama the whole situation has caused within the Warriors organization.

What no one has really talked about though, is what Monta might decide to do. Mercury News Warriors expert Tim Kawakami thinks Monta could demand that the Warriors cut him loose:

The real murmurings around the league: If Warriors colossus Robert Rowell isn’t careful, Ellis could eventually decide to make his own judgement.

The real decision to watch: Ellis could decide that he wants nothing more to do with the team, whether they decide to void his contract or not.

If he feels his recovery is coming along, Ellis could say by mid-December: Either void my deal or trade me, your choice, because I’m never playing for a franchise that would do this to me after I admitted my mistake and was ready to accept singular punishment.

That Ellis judgement is a very live possibility.

You’d have to think that there would be several teams lined up to sign Ellis at a discount. He’d be well worth a gamble, right

I never viewed Ellis as a top tier player. He's more like a borderline 2nd/3rd option on a good team next to a superstar so he's not exactly franchise material that they should build around. Same goes for Jackson...they're both good role players. If they trade him and get quality in return, then go for it. At the very least, void his contract so they can free up cap space for the big FAs in 2010

I don't think it's always the organization, but many times it is. And I think that people blame the player, because a lot of these cupcakes have developed a relationship with said player and feel like they're letting them down. Like...Baron leaving wasn't ''part of the business''...he left me and now I'm empty inside so I want to cry and lash out...I'll vent on the Siccness.

2nd, he lied about how he got hurt to begin with. and he was the one that fucked up not the company which just gave him 66 million. so the player fucked up not the company.

3rd, they gave him 66 million dollars and he broke his ankle on a fucking moped. take the slap on the wrist, do the arbitration to have fine and games reduced. also during said arbitration guarantee the existing contract and the case is closed.

Offensively:

Monta proved to be pretty much unguardable in that offense last year. He doesn't have to be superstar material right now, but averages of 20, 5 & 4 with 53% from the field for a 6'3 guard aint nothin to sneeze at. Brandon Roy (considered a superstar by some) was an All-Star last year and put up very similar numbers

Baron deferred to him more and more as the season went on and he proved he could handle it. He was the one consistent force towards the end of the season when Baron was breaking down and Jackson started sucking. He also proved to be pretty clutch and didn't make many mistakes down the stretch in close games.

The Warriors are missing Monta's speed right now. Be it open court or in the half court. That dynamic in of itself is something opposing teams have to game plan for.

Defensively:

Well ... he plays for Don Nelson. He averaged almost 2 steals though last year though :cheeky:

if Ellis can come back to his previous form, I'm excited to see what he can do. JRich was shipped out because of $$$ of course, but also he was stunting the growth of Monta's game. Now with Baron gone, let's see what Monta can really do. 2-3 tonite ??!?!?!?!?
