Damn. I grew up listening to Too $hort since 1985, then 415, Hugh E MC, IMP, Mac Dre, The Click, basically the golden age of Bay Area rap but I must be getting old or somethin cuz this new E-40 is straight garbage. I can't be the only one who feels this way. I ain't feelin it at all. Probably the only tracks I thought were alright was #6 and #14, other than that, straight garbage. Why he keeps using Rick Rock, I'll never understand. Cuz that fool's beats ALL sound the same. And what's up with 40 droppin Rick Rock's name on ever muthafuckin song he produced? I ain't hatin' on 40, I hope he blows the fuck up with this one, I really do. I love ALL his other albums. But this shit is just beyond my taste. I want the Bay to come back more than anyone I know, but I gotta keep it real and this album just ain't cuttin it for me. I just can't fuck with it. I mean, I tried to like it, but that shit had to be ejected out my CD player and replaced with "Federal." I can't be the only who feels this way. This post is mostly for the older cats that's on here. Do ya'll feel me on this or am I trippin hard? Do I need to go back and listen to the album again? Gimme your thoughts.

as a consumer, you either adapt and keep an ear open to the changing times or you stay stuck in the past. whichever type you are, its all good b/c thats what you like and it doesnt matter what everyone else likes.

as a rapper, you constantly evolve and improve as an artist or your career ends, because it DOES matter what everyone else likes. 40 isn't gonna just make music for the old school heads, he's gonna keep it fresh and relevant (sorry had to use it lol) so he can continue to appeal to the current generation and keep selling albums.

this may be very obvious to you, but i just felt the need to type it.

I been listening to 40 since 93 and I'm 28 now and I still feel like his shit is tight. And who says his shit ain't mobb. Half the album is on some mobb shit and the other half he made for commercial appeal. People gotta learn to grow with the artist. If he released Federal right now people would laugh and tell him to step his game up. And Federal is my favorite 40 album.

wut do u expect a album in this day n age to sound like, some mob shit? no mainstream album gon sound like that, matter fact nowadays i'll be surprised if a underground album sound like that, i'm tired of wantin tha ol school shit back, i came to realize it aint gon happen, and i think its time we all realize that, shit gotta evolve and change just make sure the new shit tight, give it a chance, but as far as e-40s new album i think its better then his last one or two albums he put out, but i aint heard the whole thang yet so i aint gon comment, i heard a few tracks.....

Oh I absolutely feel you on all that but God damn, not ONE track even closely resembling that fast-slow-fast-mob-sound that MADE him? Feel me? Mac Dre changed/evolved, but he still kept some of the old-school Bay game in most of his music and he's still loved by old-school and new school alike. That's all I'm asking for. A mix of both. Not the SAME tired ass Rick Rock beats, or Rick Rock-imitator beats, with simple ass, damn near ALL-commercial lyrics and flows. What happened to the mob sound? What happened to his mile-a-minute-flows? I honestly think he might've been better off using all pop-ass Lil John beats. He'd probably REALLY blow up with that gay shit since the $outh is all the fuckin radio plays.

I aint dat old but im likin 40's older stuff. Like Captain Save A Hoe, Hurricane, Sprinkle Me, etc.... His new album is goin mainstream and dats wut most of us wanted, the bay 2 shine. not that its startin 2, sum of u are wantin the underground sound back. 40's album slaps on a couple songs, i like it, and will supporret the bay!
