how do you get rid of this? ive had it on my computer for about 6 months. is it like a virus or spyware?i just want to get the new things from microsoft..

It's not a virus. It is, as it states, genuine. If you don't have a valid license for Windows AND you try to update it AND you don't uncheck said feature it will be embedded into your registry. Which means you either have to remove it from your registry or, if your lucky and you saved a setpoint, you can roll back your Windows to an earlier date. If someone doesn't help you remove it I will when I get off work.

a LOT of people are screwed. When you do get rid of it...turn off Windows automatic updates...and never download ANYTHING from microsoft...cause more than likely they will try to validate your Windoze installation.

I thought the same thing, however, I went back to update it after I fucked myself the first time and I simply unchecked "Windows Genuine Advantage" and it updated my computer with everything else. Believe it or not it lets you choose not to install it with the updates. This was a few months ago so I don't know if they changed things.

EDIT: Your right about the automatic updates because then you wouldn't have a choice. Missed that part.

nothing has worked..i got rid of the whole nag screen things and crap but i still can not get updated software from microsoft
