WINDOW TINT laws in the bay?

what happens when you get pulled over for the tints on the front windows? whats the cost for the ticket? lately i been seein hella people with tints on the front. is there certain laws for each county in the bay? if you got tints all around, what do you do when you drive around? have the windows down when you on the streets?

Man, I used to have mirror tint all the way around on my ride (except the windshield, obviously) until I got ticketed for it. Shit was tight. You couldn't see inside for nothing. I can't remember how much the ticket was exactly but I don't think it was that much, I think it was kinda like a fix it ticket. As far as driving around with them? I think it'll just depend on what type of cop you run into, because I drove past a few and some could care less. When I got rolled on, it was by a motorcycle cop, and usually they're hard asses for shit like that. But if you were to get tinted in front, I'd just be careful when seeing cops, because you just never know. I just tried rollin' down the windows most of the time, but other times I just took my chances. I'm just glad I wasn't faded at the time I got pulled over.

i have mine tinted. i have gotten 1 ticket and it cost me about $110 dollars to just pay it off. if I ever get another ticket, Ima just take it off, then it will be only a $10 fix-it. its abitch always looking around for cops and most of the time i just keep them down, but when its cold or raining, there is really nothing you can do. When I got them, I was told the CHP dont trip off tinting but the CHP is who pulled me over, lol.

I'd say just dont get them, its too much of a hassle and once you get them, you would hate going back. plus its just another reason cops can fuck with you. you wouldnt want to get pulled over for tinting and then end up getting a DUI cause they smell alcohol on you

usually thats just a reason to pull u over..... then they harrass u about some other shit and forget about the tints

u can have all windows tinted but there's a legal limit to how dark it can be... i'm not sure but my sister's accord has the rear passenger windows tinted so dark you can't see, rear windshield almost the same, and fronot windows/windshield slight tint but you can see in fine in the day time.

oh and when I saw the cop before I got pulled over, I tried rolling them down hella quick but it was too late. when he asked me if i knew it was illegal i said no but then he asked me why I tried rolling them down, lol. I still wonder if i hadnt lied to him, whether he would have just given me a warning

serious? i remember in driver ed they didn't say anything about that... oh well, i guess it's my sister's problem. my car didn't have that but i wrecked it recently and insurance is way too expensive to drive :devious:

sfpd has some shit they put up to your tint to test it.... i forget what % it is tho

^wrong, in cali you can have 70% in the front end (windshield and driver/passanger window)...the lower the number the darker the tint, 5% being limo...you are able to have a very light tint on the front end

alright, i checked it out and from 1985-1999 the front windows could have absolutely no tinting. in 1999 they passed a law allowing 70% visability and 35% for medical reasons.

sorry for my mistake. in 2002 I took driving school for a speeding ticket and the teacher told us the old law. You'd think if anyone should know, it would be them. but oh well.

I went up to the stick with my boy to watch some races and he had tint on his 5.0 all around, when the cops came we were just out and he rolled the windows down and the cop yelled on the PA "I know you got tint, don't try that shit!" But they did nothin cause they were busy with the ones draggin.

I got mirror tint all around...can't see in it at all...never been pulled over. Probably just been lucky though.

I don't worry about rolling them down when I see a cop. I'll try if I see one down the road, but if it's last minute...I'll just chance it. It looks way too obvious if you try to roll it down when they're right there next to you.

I know this dude that owns his own tint shop, so it really ain't a big deal if I have to take it off....I'll just put it right back on.

yeah, i have a 02 mustang. i have 5% in the back and 20% in the front. one ticket is enough though. once i get another one, ima drop it to 70%

yeah bay area cops usually love to fuck wit you bout tints...my boy got limo all the way around and they pull his ass over all the time...i usually get limo tinit in the back and thats it...therefore if im gettin pulled over i have enough time to try and stash my shit somewhere and do what i gotta do and hope he dont hit the spotlight on me...whihc they usually dont, 1 time they did.

having ya front windows limo/mirror tinted is just givin em another reason to pull ya over...and a lotta cats i know need every reason to NOT get pulled over ( no l's, dirty, cars stolen...lol )


anyone got pics of what 70% looks like? i though the law was 50% but now i know...if its that super light ass tint then i agree...its pointless..
but if its some semi cool smoke like tint that actually gives you a little cover....then yeah..its better then nothin

Maybe it's just me, but if the back is tinted, you have to get the front to match...whatever the % may be.

It just doesn't look right when the back is limo tinted and the front is light, or not tinted at all.
