Because even when the radio was filled with nothing but Bay music, the fans for the most part don't even support our homegrown artists.

And by support, I don't mean calling into KMEL and begging Big Von to play a song....by support I mean actually going out and BUYING THE MUSIC.

Buying records is way more powerful than requesting a song on the radio or coming on a message board and complaining about it. If your favorite bay area artist was selling 100,000k+ in the bay area alone, radio stations wouldn't have a choice but to play him!

I cant complain, they give me and my music spins, and so do other stations. I haven't payed a dime. Maybe people need to make music that the DJ's likes and want to play. The DJ's aint forced to not play Bay music.
Ok..... I gotta spell it out. A local show for an hour once a week doesn't count. They're puttin' you the INDEPENDANT ARTIST in a box. It's cool but it's a PACIFIER. If you wanna accept that then cool. What I'm sayin' is simple, After a Lil' Wayne, Soulja Boy or Rick Ross song goes off on the radio does Krypto, Beeda Weeda, Jacka or Glasses come on??? NO! It's sad all of you gotta get love outside of "HOME". They're NOT playing your shit during the commute or primetime hours. Some will say well we got somethin'. The FACT is this isn't the 1st time KMEL has made a local show. This is like the 5th or 6th show they've made to play "BAY MUSIC". And they WILL CANCEL it after a lil' time goes by. It's not hard to get "Courtesy" spins, you forget how long I've been around?? You're gettin' "SPINS" when PUBLISHING CHECKS start falling in your mailbox, and you won't have to put request info in your sig. I got LOVE for all INDEPENDANT ARTISTS whether I feel their material or not if they're in it for the right reason. I'm waiting to see which one of my peers will GET IT!! I'm not attackin you my nigg! I'm just sayin' look at the BIG PICTURE & don't be content with scraps when you can get the MEAL.

Some more REAL TALK brought to you by..............................

KMEL Plays Don P's You're With Me, KMEL Wont Play your stuff unless its a hit. So step ya hit game up! Meet Djs, be seen,. and then complain, do it for 2-3 years, then...complain, if you havent then you wont ever hear your voice on the radio. Anyone whos on this board saw everyone whos on the radio try three years ago, and today, they are on! So keep hustlin, dont cry, stay positive, and then maybe you can be on of the few ones to not hate on the radio, and support the radio doing there job.

The DJ's dont even make the playlist first of all. I am not sure why radio is always discussed on this message board as well. Again 99% of these posters including the rappers on here have no clue how the radio is ran. Every time a record is played the radio station has to pay the artist for the record. So that means less time to get music on the air more time to run commercials and do over the air mentions for clubs. You are fighting for a little position on the radio as they can only play so manny records in a day. The radio is going to want to play the records that will bring in the most listeners. The more listeners the more money they can charge advertisers. Just because you have a R&B hook does not make it a radio song either!!!!!! Trust me the radio people does not care where the records come from as long as there core audience wants to hear it and they will tune in to hear it they will continue to play it. At the end of the day the bay dont even like its own artist for the most part. Alot of that has to do with people from 1 city feeling like they dont have to support artist from anotha city in the bay.

I would like to know why independant rappers don't support independant radio? They would rather be heard on KMEL or KBMB heard around their block then to a WORLD WIDE listening audience....it seems some rappers would rather be heard 1 time on their local music show then to be in a regular rotation on an internet radio station. We are in a digital age, and have to use all your resources...you can create a buzz with your music and don't need 1 radio spin, Myspace and other social networking sites have proven this..

Support those who support you and change the game...

Are you paying the artist/producer/writer publishing company every time you play there record on your web site?
