Afghanistan is unwinnable, check history. The rebels also have the will to wait shit out and to keep fighting as long as it takes. The US doesn't, especially with deadlines to troop withdrawals, etc.

Long live Afghanistan.

It has been elevated to a holy war since troops entered Afghanistan, and even before with our presence back in the 80's... We never should of went over there, or to Iraq... If they believed there were problems to begin with, they've only intensified the hatred, and fueled the opposition to create more structure for a resistance... They're just costing lives, on both sides keeping up this nonsense...

Iraq? There are still 'insurgents' and just because the US pack up and leave doesn't mean it will stop. Those Iraqi police they have been training are corrupt as fuck and as soon as the US and its partners are out of there, shit will start happening again for a very long time.

Guerilla Warfare is not winnable, unless you nuke every inch of whole country.
Guerillas have been 'defeated' before. The Malay emergency is a pretty good example of a recent one. Another example of an even more recent one is LTTE in Sri Lanka being defeated last year.

lol, and if we really want to get technical, in Vietnam the 'insurgency' or the Viet Cong were destroyed during and after Tet. From Tet on the war was fought for the most part by the NVA, who were not some guerillas but an actual Army. South Vietnam didn't fall to guerillas, but to the NVA, which had armor, artillery batteries, and aircraft.

Afghanistan war logs: Massive leak of secret files exposes truth of occupation

A huge cache of secret US military files today provides a devastating portrait of the failing war in Afghanistan, revealing how coalition forces have killed hundreds of civilians in unreported incidents, Taliban attacks have soared and Nato commanders fear neighbouring Pakistan and Iran are fuelling the insurgency.

The disclosures come from more than 90,000 records of incidents and intelligence reports about the conflict obtained by the whistleblowers' website Wikileaks in one of the biggest leaks in US military history. The files, which were made available to the Guardian, the New York Times and the German weekly Der Spiegel, give a blow-by-blow account of the fighting over the last six years, which has so far cost the lives of more than 320 British and over 1,000 US troops.

Their publication comes amid mounting concern that Barack Obama's "surge" strategy is failing and as coalition troops hunt for two US navy sailors captured by the Taliban south of Kabul on Friday.

The war logs also detail:

• How a secret "black" unit of special forces hunts down Taliban leaders for "kill or capture" without trial.

• How the US covered up evidence that the Taliban have acquired deadly surface-to-air missiles.

• How the coalition is increasingly using deadly Reaper drones to hunt and kill Taliban targets by remote control from a base in Nevada.

• How the Taliban have caused growing carnage with a massive escalation of its roadside bombing campaign, which has killed more than 2,000 civilians to date.

In a statement, the White House said the chaotic picture painted by the logs was the result of "under-resourcing" under Obama's predecessor, saying: "It is important to note that the time period reflected in the documents is January 2004 to December 2009."

The White House also criticised the publication of the files by Wikileaks: "We strongly condemn the disclosure of classified information by individuals and organisations, which puts the lives of the US and partner service members at risk and threatens our national security. Wikileaks made no effort to contact the US government about these documents, which may contain information that endanger the lives of Americans, our partners, and local populations who co-operate with us."

it could be all made up, i hope it was, because this punk was kinda tipsy and that, you see what i'm saying, he coulda been running up his mouth to seem big to his friend, you get what i'm saying, but it would add up to whats been mentioned under that leaked files, plus some of the shit this idiot was yapping his gums about seemed kinda technical so you never know

Vietnam was not won. The US won the battles but lost the war. Can you agree on this?

Bush was the face of the government for 8 years, just like the presidents before him. Therefore, it is HIS war. Thats how it works in the US.

So if its not Bush's war, then its not Obama's either.
I know how it works. It's not Bush's or Obama's war, in my opinion. My point is, every time Obama fucks up...Bush gets blamed. Those bills were passed by Dems, just like they are now. So if people hate what came out of the Bush era, they only have one party to really blame.

I'm just saying...people who don't know where to place blame need to shut the fuck up and stop voting...because they are voting for the wrong reasons.

best shape? really? get off that fox news...
Well, yes...actually, it is. They don't have a dictator killing mass amounts of people for having an opinion or for the sheer fun of it.

The country is in the hands of the Iraqi's, but they are fucking it off. Do you think if we pulled our troops out the violence would stop? No. They have their own issues over there between groups that we just so happen to be in the middle of. It is up to them to set up shop and use the country that was handed to them instead of fighting over who is going to CONTROL it. That's the biggest issue...they think somebody needs to CONTROL shit, rather than just letting people do their thing and vote in some good leadership.

But all in all, yes, they are better off without a leader that was killing citizens. Hussein was no better than Hitler.

Instead of Saddam killing citizens, its the rival factions and war taht resulted from the operation that is killing the innocent...shit is just waayy to fucked up over there...
