The only arguement? You've obviously failed to read any of my posts regarding this topic in this and other threads.
He's the BEST player on the TOP team in the WEST. His numbers are outstanding, he had a mediocre (AT BEST) supporting cast for at least half of the season, numerous injuries to the team, along with his own...and he's still dominating the league.
What is YOUR arguement for Paul? Your dislike for Kobe doesn't count.
lol ... Never said I didn't like Kobe. He's the most skilled perimeter player in the game today. No, I didn't read any of the articles because it's the same rhetoric you get when you read all the articles on ESPN and NBA.com or if you watch Sportscenter, 1st and 10 (whatever ESPN's morning show is called), NBA Fastbreak, NBA TV, etc... written and discussed by the same 6-8 "experts". These experts are in the business to play devil's advocate 80% of the time to stir a debate so I could care less about MOST of the things they have to say about actual buckets.
Kobe's the best player on the best team record wise in the West? Great argument :cheeky: It's not like the top spot in the west hasn't been shifting around daily (sometimes hourly) over the last month or so. So the Lakers beat a Spurs team without Manu and now they're tops in the West by half a game over the Hornets (unless the standings haven't been updated and it's a full game). Yaaaaay...
To me, people aren't making enough noise about the fact that
THE HORNETS HAVE ONE OF THE TOP TWO RECORDS IN THE MOST DIFFICULT CONFERENCE IN THE LEAGUE... That's right. THE HORNETS... Funny, right? No, it's all about how maybe Kobe will finally prove that he can win without Shaq. It's unfortunate but that's the real...
A couple of things:
Controlling the game -
Chris Paul:
The ball is in Chris Paul's hands 612%
(an obvious exaggeration) of the time. No Chris Paul = No offense for the Hornets.
Kobe Bryant:
The Lakers have a proven offensive system in the triangle. They don't
need Kobe to initiate anything on the offensive side of the floor. Luke Walton, Lamar Odom, Sasha Vujacic, Jordan Farmar and D Fish can handle those responsibilities well.
Taking Over a Game -
Sure, Kobe can 'take over' a game. Guess what? So can Chris Paul. And because he dominates the ball so much he (CP3) can control HOW he takes over the game.
The fact that he can on ANY given possession, (again because he's the PG and dominates the ball so much) he can break down a defense and get Chandler a lob for a dunk, David West a 17 footer, Peja or any of their other spot up shooters a 3 or score the ball himself makes him the
type of threat that Kobe isn't and never has been. Jannero Pargo isn't putting that same type of pressure on defenses, sorry.
Not taking anything away from Kobe, but to me, understanding
exactly what each player means to their team is essential here. And I've only talked about offense up until this point (CP3 leading the league in steals is sort of minor)
Who's a more popular choice?
Chris Paul:
A lot of people are like ... who?
Kobe Bryant:
It's a better story for the league if Kobe wins the MVP. And if you don't understand that or don't know why that is, then get out of the thread, lol
