Scarface is a movie I could watch at any given moment. (As is Goodfellas, and a couple others) Its one of those movies where its good even if youve seen it a million times before. I still discover new shit everytime I watch it. I like the charisma, the swagger that Pacino gives the charactor. The accent, while not really being a real accent at all, is a charactor of its own. The one-liners, the 80s synth club music, the fat pad, the pimped out suits with the butterfly collars, the yayo, the gritty violence... fuck, its a masterpiece. I look at Pacino and Im like, wow, this dude really transformed himself into one of American cinema's most unforgettable leads. But it looked effortless, as if Tony Montana was real, and a camera crew followed his arrival to America, his uprising, and his downfall. He lived the American dream to the fullest - money, power, and yes, he even got himself a white woman. But her womb was so polluted with drugs, that he couldnt create an hier to his throne. Fuck, thats quality drama right there. Tony Montana, though a gangster, was also a man of morals... he liked kids, he didnt want to bomb the dudes car with his wife and kids inside. So what happened because of that? He ended up getting killed. He died because he lived up to his morals. Thats some deep shit. Dude is ruthless when it comes to taking out a man, but when it comes to kids, he aint havin it. And it cost him his life, his power, his dreams. He died so those kids would live. Thats a cinematic hero! Also, if it wasnt for Scarface, the word 'yayo' would of never been introduced into this Bay culture we got, therefore, the term "Yay Area" would not even exist. IF YOUVE EVER REFFERED TO OUR HOME AS THE YAY AREA, YOU OWE SCARFACE ITS PROPER RESPECT. Every dog has its day...
