B-SAN
Thank you for the kind words. Being that I am originally from LA (Compton), then I moved to San Jo when I was really young, I can speak on both perspectives. I spent my summers in Compton, any break that I had from school I was in Compton where my fathers side of the family resided and is from. So I was out there in the heat when it was really going down. This is years 1975 (my year of birth) - 1993 (when I was 18) cause then I started to slack off on going out there alot.
To answer your question tho, first off I love what you said about SJ being the Blue headed Step Child of the Bay. thats more real than what most would like to or even want to accept, San Jose is the outcast off the Bay. Yea we have our thizz, hyphy dudes, but I think those are just trying to find an identity that they can relate to, cause if they ae up outta San JO, they too have someone or know someone involved with that CRIP gang and in some way it has played a part in they life even tho thay might not identify themselves as Crips. Also we have our "players" and all that, but most of all, we got gang-bangas. CRIPs, BLOODs, Nortenos, and Surenos. Alot of us have gotten older, so things that happened between neighborhoods in the late 80's, early 90's have been squashed, are put to the side. To prove this, last time I was in San Jo, I rolled out to the club with 5 cats from 7 Trees to see my homie Silence do a show. at least one or two of the cats from Trees we have had words in the past. Its all love. We on some grown up shit out here. We got our own identity. Fads come and go, but you catch my muthafuccas from San Jo with the emphasis on the EAST, uniformed down Jeans, T-shirt, white sneakers, and baseball caps. Khakis the whole 9, aint nothin changed, just the mind set got a lil better.
