he wants to get it to a small but very loyal base of fans who WILL give a shit about it, as a matter of fact, who will see it be the highlight of their week.

So let's just hope he puts it up sometime this weekend....

Maybe he doesn't want to sell the album because his former artists might throw a tantrum when they see he is selling their work. Who knows.....just some thoughts.....

I bet at least half of them would get all pissed off, which is stupid...Cause they're not doin shit now anyway.

It is very much worth it. You can get 100 basic CD-Rs, shrink-wrapped (what really matters), with basic inserts, for around $300 or so........then sell out in a Month or less at $5-10 each, selling half of them on this board alone.
True, even less than $300 if you looked around. That would be sweet but at the end of the day it's how much time D-Sane has to do something like this and we all know he's busy with his production which probably makes a lot more money than a venture like this would. It would be cool to have one no doubt though. I'm just glad he's going to release this album to us in the first place even if it may have to come in mp3 form.

I would gladly pay for a FTS album (as is evident due to the fact that I've put down cash on everything FTS has done), but I think there are other factors contributing to D-Sane NOT wanting to sell the album. I don't want to assume what those factors are, but if we all recall he also put up the Street Poetry album for FREE. I don't know if he is using these as promotional tools, or if he is just trying to provide the fans with unheard music and show appreciation for our support. Remember that these artists (for the most part) are no longer working with SLR/D-Sane and maybe he doesn't want to spend the time and money to press the album. Maybe he doesn't want to sell the album because his former artists might throw a tantrum when they see he is selling their work. Who knows.....just some thoughts.....I personally can't wait to hear this shit and I appreciate the fact D is providing the heat, regardless of his motives for lacin' us for free......

Thanks D-Sane......
Good post. It's probably a combination of promotion and giving back to us. And yes the reason he's most likely not releasing it is because he doesn't work with most of those artists anymore. If the artists didn't care if he released the album, and if he didn't have to pay them anything for using their material, it's still a HUGE problem that he's not going to have any of the artists to promote it doing shows, etc. You can't really release an album and expect it to sell much if theres no artist there backing it (as in no longer with the label). They aren't going to give away their time for it.

^^ Hey, remember that one time I exposed you as knowing nothing at all about Duplication or Replication? Being grown doesn't really do you any good if you don't know anything.

If the people are willing to pay...AND THEY ARE...it makes no BUSINESS SENSE not to sell, and not one of you would take that argument because it is a losing one and you would be slaughtered.

No....They're not.YOU might be willing to pay,but using any formula of common sense would tell you that your more than likely to not get more than 10-15 internet sales from material recorded in 1997-98 era.Trying to hustle these in the streets and stores would cost you more in gasoline than the product could even recoup. You my friend have been dismantled.

Wrong. Beyond wrong, even. I could literally name you 10-15 people in the next 10 MINUTES that would buy this release. Most would probably even pre-order, so right there, you'd already have a good 30-40% of the Up-front costs. I personally buy 2 copies of everything, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

You WOULD NOT have to be on the streets or going to unfamiliar locations to sell 100 copies. 100 copies is not shit. A MySpace bulletin and a post on this very forum, explaining in IMPLICIT DETAIL that this would be a LIMITED EDITION, ____-ONLY PRESSING......believe me, you would get your point across and probably sell through the first 50+ in under a week.

Again....like so many others, I am sorry you are not familiar with this whole CD-Releasing-thing, and that I am very familiar with it. There are many topics where you can sit back and say, "Dirty Shoez aka Tadou, you don't have any experience on this topic, so what can you tell me?" -- This is not one of those topics.

Tadou has apparently never heard the old saying..."NOT ALL MONEY IS GOOD MONEY!"

Cranky & them guys hit the nail on the head. I'm GIVING this away for the following reasons:

1. It's OLD material. 5-6 years old to be exact. All of these songs were recorded in 2000-2001. Maybe 2002 but I can't remember exactly.

2. I'm not interested in spending the THOUSANDS of dollars it would cost to get graphics done and have the shit pressed up. (And if Tadpole would like to argue CD replication prices again and end up lookin' stupid AGAIN we can do that.)

3. I don't have the time to push this album.

4. I'm not trying to make any money from this music. Do I deserve to get paid for the HUNDREDS of hours I put into this project? Sure I do. But all the funk between me and the rest of the artists on this project has just finally settled down and been squashed...I would like to keep it that way. I don't need shit startin' up again and havin' fools talkin' about I'm makin' money off them again and they're not seeing any. Nobody is seeing any money from this music.

5. Yes...this is a way of givin' back to the loyal fans. Download the shit...make copies of it for your friends...and crack it!!! This is the last real FTS music you will probably EVER hear. It's the end of an era.

6. Most of you would probably just download the shit anywayz. :)

I specifically mentioned DUPLICATION and numbers like 100 copies...but OK!
