i was 17 when I had my son..

You just gotta realize...
Your child did not ask to be here. You and his mother made that happen. So now all you can do is provide for him/her.

How did I stay alive? easy...
I took it upon myself to be the best father that I could be. My son is about to be 8 now...and Im 25. He has everything he needs and will always as long as I am around. Your only 17 so you have a lot to learn....and alot coming your way still.

my best advice to you is. Be there for your child no matter what. Babys mothers dont make it any easier but realize that she is young too (i assume) so you both are going through a huge learning curve. Obviously this was not the ideal time for either of you to have a child, but since the child is here....you both have to deal with it.

Good luck.

I was 17 when my first child was born and 18 when my second was born I am now 23 and kids are 4 and 5 the most important thing to do is be there and make a life for them. Being there is important but at the same time you need to find a job a long term job so you can set goals and ensure the future of your child will be good.

My husband had 3 sons by the time he graduated from High School. They are 9, 9, and 8 now. He has said many times how much having the boys at such an early age changed his life...some ways for the better, some ways for the worse.

I am 31, and have not even thought about having children yet. I am gonna wait a few more years.

Made me grow up 10 fold..

I remember being high when my son got sick once..
he was in the hospital and had to have surgery...
and I was very high....and just left a friends house to go see him...

his mother looked at me...and knew I was high..
and when I looked at my son all hooked up with cords and shit..
I just felt this big guilt...and thats the day I asked myself..

"WHAT AM I GONNA REALLY DO?"

I was 21 when I had my first boy who is 6 now, and that didn't work out with his mom and me but I do all I can to be there and give him what he needs. I had my second boy last May and me and his mom are trying our best to make it work. She is a full time student (2 years left to become a nurse) and I got a nice long term job at a fiber optic plant so hopefully things can work for the best
